7 PRX Alphabet Soup Hcp
$200.000 3yo&Up Foaled in PA 1 1/16m Turf Hcp Weights
SOUP!! One of my all-time favorites, we lost the big boy back in January… broke my heart, but he lived a long (31yo), luxurious life. Today, we look at the field of eight set to go a mile and a sixteenth in the race named after the big gray, the Alphabet Soup Hcp, and lit looks like a nice group of PA bred horses. Let’s go to the far outside post and put the 3yo Cascade King on top. He’s top weight as a 3yo, but earned the impost witha win at GG vs. open stakes types, then was third a half length back vs. graded horses at CD. He can run. If the weight is a factor, look for Chai Sprint to be there to pick up the pieces. He’s been solid as a rock facing this type of competition, and I’ll look for another big effort today.
Here’s The Field –

Day Tribe | High Voltage | Franco M | 118 | 5/1 |
Nice win at ELP last out, taking down open Alw foes and he came from WAY back in that one. Good to see him get back on-track as it had been a while since he’d had his picture taken. Can he keep it going today?

You Know Youre Right | Mo Mentum Farm | Pennington F | 118 | 6/1 |
Broke maiden at ELP last out, going wire to wire to score by four widening lengths on a soft course in KY. He was a runner-up in three other races, so he’s certainly shown some ability, and now moves up the ladder. If it’s wet, he may have things his way.

Cephalonian | First Flight Stable | Gaffalione T | 119 | 9/2 |
I think he’s the best PA-bred I have and as much as I loved SOUP!, I couldn’t resist taking a swing in this one. He won over this track last out, was second vs. similar prior to that, so who knows… maybe I find a miracle.
|
Mulch | Angelos Stable | Conner T | 118 | 5/2 |
Has been on a steady diet of PA-bred since being haltered for $20.000 back in April. Two wins and a second from those four starts, but his only bad start was on we grass, so it will be interesting to see how he goes here.
|
Pure Pinnacle | Lanfranco Stable | Espinoza V | 119 | 9/2 |
Five solid starts since being haltered for $12.500 back in Dec of last season, four of those vs. PA bred types. He was third last out at CT, facing open horses, and comes back to the state-breds looking for a nice payday.
|
Nobile Dex | Angelos Stable | Saez L | 119 | 9/5 |
Three seasonal wins including a nice stakes score at PID in the Hard Spun, then was fourth in the Longacre Mile at EMD last out. He’s always tough and you have to give him a serious look here, as well.
|
Chai Sprint | Maxmillion Farm | Salgado A | 118 | 2/1 |
Maxmillion Farm has been hot, and here’s another that never seems to miss a check. Five PA-bred starts for this outfit and he brings home a check every single time. Nice third in the Banjo Picker and will look to improve off of that start today.
|
Cascade King | Nakamura Stables | Lopez P | 120 | 8/5 |
Won the Alcatraz at GG, then was third last out in the Secretariat Stakes (GII) at CD, closing fast but running out of race track that afternoon. He is the high weight vs older horses, so he will have his work cut out for him.
