Three-Year-Old Looks to Be Sitting Pretty in Plum Pretty

Plum Pretty
 PRX Race #8 1m 70 Dirt Stake
Purse $200.000 For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward Foaled In PA.

The spread in weights makes this look more like a handicap than a handicap and it does mean the three year old here looks to be very well in, here is how they line up:

1 Chrystal Rose Night Rider Stables Wolfsont A

This six year old may be racing over a trip she hasn’t raced over for a while but i do feel that of all the older horses in this race she may be the one to give the three year old a race. Drawn the ace which is always a help she may not have won a stakes race in her long career but she has been runner up twice at this level and has been a solid mare in good level overnights. She won her maiden over this trip as a two year old so clearly it is not beyond her and this draw may help her conserve enough energy for a big stretch run.

2 Tamalpais Onlineracingclub.com Carmouche K

Carries a penalty which will be very tough for her as her win came with bottom weight in the Turn Back The Clock Handicap at grade three. She was claimed from her last race but given that that was at SAR i think we can assume that Mb Stables wasn’t in a hurry to get rid of her but needed some wins to take the meet title. She has a great draw and would be a big chance without the weight on her back and may still be there at the end but weight can be a big factor and i can’t see her being able to carry this extra bag of sugar at HRP and get away with it.

3 Grumble Asgar Franco M

The winner of a little stakes race earlier in the year see’s her with a 2Lb penalty and that makes her job just a little bit harder. She ran a great race last time on this track when just failing to catch the winner in the Garofalo Memorial last time out and carried the penalty that day so with these extra two furlongs, a nice draw and an inform jockey she must be a chance again.

4 Green Eyed Baby Smokey Stover Lopez P

A couple of years ago this would’ve been a foregone conclusion and i suspect it is now as this three year old gets upwards of 4 pounds from her rivals. A winner of six from eight her only foray into stakes company saw her fifth of six in the Iowa Oaks so she is no superstar and her works are good without being outstanding so if you fancy a gamble it is not impossible to see her beaten. The trip should suit her so she is the obvius choice but there are some chinks in her armor.

5 Deja Kate Alydar Stables Velazquez J R

Just behind Grumble in the Garofalo Memorial from a similar draw i do wonder whether this trip makes it a bit harder for her to turn that form around as she has had only one run in a route and that saw her outside the top three. She is however a tough on pace sort who will run a race but i think she may struggle to find the top three.

SUMMARY

The three year old looks so well in at the weights that it is hard to see past her. If there is one to beat her it may be Chrystal Rose.
