Three Year Olds NY Breds
Well a field of eight three year old New York bred runners have been entered up for this one. There is some pretty nice runners in this field and a couple of them are coming out of Derby preps. It is a nice field and at first glance most of them look like they have a case for winning. Let’s take a look at the field.
1. Chiozza (7-1-1-0 $59.000), trained by Estero Farms
Here is the first runner we come to in the field and he is one of the ones coming out of a derby prep. He ran fourth in the grade three Davis Stakes last time so he ran a very solid race in there. This is a step down in class so he should be tough if he makes the cutback in distance.
2. Senor Bay (11-3-3-1 $140.070), trained by Gdp Inc
Second runner in the field right here and this horse is a stakes placed runner. He ran second in the Winkfield earlier on this year right here at Aqueduct. He ran second in an optional claimer at Gulfstream last out and that was a good race for him. I think he fits into this field nicely and he should have a chance.
3. Gettysburg (3-1-2-0 $49.800), trained by Night Rider Stables
A recent maiden winner against New York bred company right here and he is going to try and win this race for the third year in a row for his trainer. Night Rider Stables has won this race two years in a row and if this runner can improve off of his maiden win he might be able to complete a three peat.
4. So You Think (5-1-1-0 $30.600), trained by Threshold
Next runner that we look at right here is coming into this race off of a second place finish in a statebred allowance race right here at Aqueduct. That race was at six furlongs and he was closing late so I think the extra sixteenth of a mile will help him out. Not sure if he is good enough but I wouldn’t count him out.
5. Cash Deposit (11-1-4-2 $62.340), trained by Fractious
Well I think trainer Fractious has finally figured put what this runner wants to do and that is sprint on the dirt. He won a maiden twenty dollar claimer at Fair Grounds and then came back with a second in an optional claimer there also. He is improving with every start but he will need to run a huge race.
6. King Of Doriath (7-1-2-1 $36.130), trained by Nakamura Stables
And this next horse right here has been doing most of his best running on the turf. In his last start he switched back to the dirt and ran a nice closing second in a twenty five dollar claimer at Gulfstream Park. I think this is a step up in class for him but if the pace is fast I could see him closing for a minor placing.
7. Fire N Fury (4-1-0-2 $33.950), trained by D J C Racing Stables
Now here is the horse that I think is the most talented horse in the field. He ran seventh in the grade two Rebel last out but he romped in a maiden special weight by five lengths at Gulfstream Park two starts back. If he runs like that I don’t know if there will be any stopping him in this spot.
8. Intervention (7-4-1-0 $48.480), trained by Mb Stables
Finally we come across the last entry in the race and this horse is coming into this race on a three race win streak. He won two allowances at Turf Paradise and then won an optional claimer at Santa Anita last out. He is steadily improving but he needs to run the best race of his career to win here.
Summary
I mean this is a pretty solid field for sure and you can make a case for any one of them really. I think the toughest two are the two outside horses as they both come into this race in good form. I’m going to make my top pick Fire N Fury because he looks like a very talented runner. Good luck to all in the field.
