No one in this field stands out as an overwhelming favorite, but several have a real shot at winning. Sensation deserves a look as one of only two graded winners in the field. Several have won in ungraded company and look ready to take the next step.

Let’s look at the field:

#1 Not A Big Deal (Mb Stables) Won in allowance company three starts back. Has a win in graded company but hasn’t fared well in his last two graded starts. Will need a top performance to compete here.

#2 Uzume (Nakamura Stables) Coming in off a win in the Satin and Lace Stakes. Look for a strong performance from this five-year-old mare and a win wouldn’t be a surprise.

#3 Always A Virgin (Tinkey) Only four starts for this filly, but three of them were wins, including a victory last out in the ALB Distaff. Big step up for this consistent lady.

#4 Toothless (Night Mare Racing) Last win came in January in the Wayward Lass Stakes. Has had a couple of close calls like a second by a neck in the Grade 3 Bayakoa. No stranger to this level of competition but hasn’t been able to get to the winner’s circle at this level.

#5 Sensation (Mb Stables) Won the Grade 3 Las Virgenes Stakes in February. Hasn’t managed to get back to the winner’s circle in graded company since. Still, she has been performing and working well. Don’t count her out.

#6 Verve (Mb Stables) Working very well at MTH. Another consistent Mb entry. Third in the Grade 3 Trillium Stakes last out. Before that, strung together three wins, including the Wilton Stakes. Another one with a good chance.

#7 Denim Queen (First Class Stable) This filly has not been beaten in three starts this year. Those wins were in allowance and optional claiming company. Stakes winner making her first try at graded level.

#8 Diverse City (Avenue Z) Finished 3rd in the Shine Again last start, but only by a neck. Only finished off the board once this year and that came in the Grade 3 Winning Colors where she finished eighth of eight. May be a bit outclassed here.

#9 Sin City Sax (Onlineracingclub.com) Won the Hawkins Stakes for WV breds last out. That was her only foray into stakes company. Remains to be seen if she can step up to graded here.

#10 Last Lady (Lindeman Prairie) Graded winner. Hasn’t shown much since that victory in the Grade 3 Las Flores Stakes in March. A strong competitor but a win might not be in the cards.

#11 Sinful By Nature (D J C Racing Stables) Won the Lady Erie last out, and before that she put together a string of strong performances in allowance company. May be asking too much here.
