8 SAR The Quick Call (GIII)
$120.000 3yo 5 1/2f Turf 122lbs
My picks here were just a bit outside… ok, way outside. In the end, a familiar face was picking up the trophy, the photograph and the lion’s share of the purse money as Mb Stables gets another graded win with Elijah G taking The Quick Call (GIII) by a length over stable-mate Tormented. The final running time was 1:01.91 for the five and a half furlongs, and the SAR turf course was listed as firm. Ags Cherokee was another three quarters of a length back in third, with equal distance back to High Crimes, taking the minor money. Post time favorite Fearisque was fifth.
Elijah G is a 3yo bay gelded son of Roebuck – Cooler Than Cool, by Wrecking Havoc, and he was bred in Tex by Gustafson Stable. Acquired at the Sep 2020 Auction for $15.100 prior to his racing career starting, he now has two wins from seven starts with purse money earned at $179.450. Congrats to the connections!

Elijah G tracked the pace, took over with an inside burst around the furlong marker, won driving. Tormented mid-packed, steady gain through the lane inside, game effort. Ags Cherokee sat behind pace, moved forward but could not go on with the top pair. High Crimes track the pace throughout, out-kicked late. Fearisque mid-pack throughout, no excuse. Neon World wide trip, evenly. Bad Precedent was outrun. Grayte Trois was not a factor. Finishing Move was outrun. Day Of The Dragon sent from the gate, retreated late. Spankersville was never involved. Carlos was outrun.
