Ete Creek Proves to Be The Very One

The Very One – Grade III
1 3/16 Mile Turf Stake Purse $125.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.

There will be a HRP trivia quiz question one day that says in which race did HRP pay out the first six finishers, the answer, this one. With three dead heating for fourth over half the eleven horse field went home with a check although the three fourth placed finishers would have got more in a TUP claimer, but hey a win is a win even if its a $10 loss.

1st Ete Creek Gdp Inc Beschizza A

There were three in this race with grade one form and only one of them made any money and to be honest of the three i didn’t think it would be this one. Still he was a top three finisher on form so this win was by no means a stretch. Settling close enough on a decent pace she quickened up nicely down the stretch and won with a bit in hand. Fitness certainly did seem the key here and she took full advantage.

2nd Sancerre Mo Mentum Farm Ortiz J L

If you had asked me before the race if this horse could beat Maggie Greene with a really bad draw i would have bet good money she wouldn’t. However i must hold my hands up because she defiantly proved me wrong. The stable is going through a lovely patch of form at the moment and this very consistent filly stepped up on all her previous efforts to run a cracker for second.

3rd Limited Risk Fractious Jaramillo E

Stayed on nicely for third and was much better than she was in the Marshua River last time.

4th= Maggie Greene The Sidley Stud Velazquez J R

Fourth last year and fourth this year it seems this great mare needs a race before she gets fully up to speed. She hasn’t gone to the lead for a while but for some reason that was seen as the right tactic today and as she faded into a share for fourth it may prove to be the wrong tactic. However, history tells us she will bounce back from this and lets hope she does.

4th= Ascot Dream TwinTowersRacing Lopez P

I think the trainer and anyone else would’ve taken a dead heat with Maggie before the race and though she did that against all the odds she still only managed a share of very little. This was a career best effort and as i said before the race TwinTowers very often finds a good performance in races like this.

4th= Shake The Stick Nakamura Stables Carrasco V R

She was close enough f good enough but didn’t strike out in the stretch and just whacked away for a share of fourth. A good enough effort but about as good as she could’ve hoped for.
