Broken Tap Gives His Younger Rivals a Lesson in The GP Mile

1st Broken Tap Arindel Jaramillo E

It’s always good to see a good old ‘un and though many didn’t see this one beating such a stellar line up we all knew that he was capable of winning a race like this. Second in this race last year leading off a much faster pace today he sat back a little and had just too much guts at the end over a trip that may have been a little short for his main rivals. Two from two this year it looks like 2021 may be the year of the veterans.

2nd Tactical Mb Stables Davis D

Drawn wide he was never going to get a dream run but after his customary sluggish start on this new race engine he got himself into a position to win but was just beaten for pace at the end. This will have given Mb Stables some hope though as this was more like the old Tactical and i am pretty sure that with a decent draw and an extra furlong or two this one will be winning grade ones again.

3rd Jumbo Bite Nakamura Stables Carrasco V R

Stalked the lead and kept on really strongly for a close third. His rather modest form lines and this result look a bit silly when you think he beat a BC Mile winner and the BC Classic winner in this race but his works said he had undergone that good old HRP bump and sure enough he ran by far the best race of his life so far.

4th Charleys Latte Estero Farms Velazquez J R

The mile was always going to be a bit sharp for the BC Classic winner and though he held a good enough position to win he just couldn’t find the speed at the end of this mile. This was a much better run than his last though and like Tactical he showed signs of a return to somewhere near his best especially if he is upped in trip next time.
