Her best racing was RIGHT in front of her…  Ewa Beach, claimed for $40.000 out of her previous start proved she was a fantastic tag as the 5yo gray mare took Saturday’s Marshuas River Stakes (GIII) by two lengths, and she covered the inner turf flat mile in 1:324 securing her fourth consecutive victory.  Unmistakable tried to make a battle out of it, but couldn’t go on late, settling for the place, with pace-setter Ete Creek holding on for third.

The field of eleven loaded into the gate and were away with Unmistakable showing speed from the far outside, Ete Creek from the rail, Silly Sue and Queens Command, Investment Return just just in behind that group, then a gap to Ewa Beach along the rail, Angelic Direction and Limited Risk, Northern Prayers with that pack, then a long gap to Bagina and Certain Vessel, both away poorly.

Around the clubhouse turn and onto the backside with five furlongs left to run, Ete Creek showing the way by a length, Unmistakable giving chase then a gap back to the trio of Silly Sue between horses, Queens Command three wide and Ewa Beach saving ground.  Another gap to Angelic Direction on the outside of Investment Return, another length and a half to Northern Prayers and Limited Risk on the inside of that foe, then a gap back to Bangina and Certain Vessel trailed the field.

Now moving down the backside and to the far turn, five sixteenths of a mile to run and Ete Creek continued to show the way by a length.  Unmistakable wasn’t going away, Ewa Beach inching up on the rail, a cap back to Queens Command, Silly Sue and Investment Return, another length and a quarter to Angelic Direction, Limited Risk between horses, Northern Prayers on the outside, then a length back to Bagina and Certain Vessel remained outrun.

Around the far turn and to the top of the lane, we had three across the track… Ete Creek continuing to show the way by a short head as Ewa Beach was inching closer with an inside move, Unmistakable three wide and right there, then a gap back to Queens Command in the three path, Investment Return trying to find more from the rail, Sill Sue and Angelic Direction feeling the whip… the rest needed to get going, and fast.

Deep stretch and to the finish, Ewa Beach was let loose at the sixteen pole and quickly opened up a lead, and she cruised home to take this one by two widening lengths.  Unmistakable continued on well for the place, a length better than the tiring Ete Creek.  It was a quarter length back to Bagina in fourth, Queens Command was fifth, Investment Return sixth, Limited Risk seventh, Angelic Direction eighth, Silly Sue ninth, Northern Prayers tenth and Certain Vessel closed this one out.

Ewa Beach is a 5yo gray mare by What Have You Done – Breeze On By, by Inspector Jacques, and she was bred in FLA by Smokey Stover.  As mentioned, she was tagged from her prior start for $40.000, and it’s obvious that The American has a sharp eye at the claim box.  This was her ninth win from nineteen starts and she shows earnings of $436.050.
