Track/Stakes Record-1:40.95 (Expert Eye-2021)

Expert Eye, a graded-winner at six and seven furlongs, was able to save his speed for when he needed it most to capture the G3 Harlan on Saturday.  Covering the 11/16 in a GP track record time of 1:40.95, Expert Eye utilized a powerful turn of foot to erase a three length deficit and cross the wire almost two lengths in front of Arcaro.  The winner’s share of the $100.000 purse pushed his earnings to $1,117.510 and improved his record to 30-9-5-4.

Breaking from post 5, Expert Eye quickly took-up a tracking position from the two path.  He dropped back to sixth as Fallacious and Talladega battled through an openening quarter in :23.49.  When Fallacious passed the half-mile point in :46.85, Expert Eye had two horses beat and was almost six lengths from the front.

The winner moved-out into the four or five path when he reached the turn and began making his move toward the front.  Fallacious and Talladega reached three-quarters in 1:10.36 and that’s when Expert Eye started picking-off horses one-by-one.  He was fourth at the top of the lane with 300 yards to erase a three length gap.  He only needed about half of that to reach the leaders and by the time Expert Eye reached the sixteenth pole, he was in front.  He ran powerfully through the wire and Expert Eye was nearly two full lengths in front of Arcaro when he stopped the clock in track-record time.  It was another half length back to Crack Dab who nosed-out Champion In Action for third.  The latter was followed home by Talladega, Fallacious, Saturday Khartoum, and Xavier Breath.

Congratulations to TwinTowersRacing and Expert Eye, the winners of the 2021 G3 Harlan at GP.
