The machine that is Mb Stables just keeps on rolling as post-time favorite Fairly Lucky took Sunday’s Affirmed Stakes (GIII) at SA, winning by a length in a final time of 1:411 for the mile and a sixteenth main track event. Grayte Cruise led at every call except the one with the paycheck, setting the pace throughout but settling for the second spot, a half-length in front of Tequila Rise in third, with an equal distance back to Herbalise in fourth.

Fairly Lucky second flight 3p, moved up closer while drifting wide through the turn and into the lane, surged wide final eighth, won driving. Grayte Cruise broke well, set the pace to inside the sixteenth, headed, settled. Tequila Rise tracked leader 2p, game finish. Herbalise on or near the early pace 2p, rail through the far turn, out-kicked. Turfway raced evenly throughout. Catch Speedy mid-pack, saved ground, no factor. Toothpaste never involved. Strange Magic no factor, outrun. Familiar Moon never involved. Cuban Moon was outrun.
