Crosby Stakes – Grade I [BC]
6 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $300.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.
1st Ferro, trained by Team 7 Illusions
It was always a matter of which three year old would win and despite being up
against some experienced and well-travelled older sprinters it was the weight
break that once again made the difference. A winner of three ungraded stakes, he
had been beaten in his only graded stakes try, but that was against his own age
group when second last in the Carry Back.Today he was always close to the pace
and ran on strongly to win by a comfortable length. This was a smooth win, but
it remains to be seen if he can beat the best three year old sprinters come BC
day.
2nd Domination Nation, trained by Double J Stables
Ran on strongly to be second bettering his last try in this race and proving
he is still a force to be reckoned with at this level.
3rd Sir Jive, trained by LionKing Stables
The wide gate pushed him into the lead and he ran a huge race to keep on gamely for
third. The first four year old home this may be the best fifty bucks the trainer has
ever spent come the end of the season.
4th Undersea warrior, trained by Canadian Racing
Although he hasn’t been tried too many times at this level he proved he can run with
the best of them getting a solid fourth.
SUMMARY
The winner looks very nice and is clearly improving at the right time of year. A son
of Charley Farley this grade one win ensures he will have a career when his racing days
are over.
