Fifi Tinkerbell Shoots for the Stars in WO Weekend Opener

After finally breaking her maiden last month down south at Tampa, Fifi Tinkerbell ( First Street Stables ) heads north and captures her first ever stakes title winning the $100.000 Star Shoots here at Woodbine.

  • Star Shoot – Purse $100.000 added
  • Woodbine Racetrack – For Three year old Fillies
  • Six Furlongs- Main Track
  • Sunday April 21st, 2019

It what would start out to be a great weekend for trainer First Street Stables when another three year old filly by the name of Princess Street would capture the Memories of Silver across the ditch at Aqueduct. Opening weekend here at Woodbine would see two Saturday victories with horses William Wallace and Glorious Son taking home their events, and then on Sunday, three year old Fifi Tinkerbell would once again put her owner back in the winners enclosure.

The bay filly has been testing distance changes, surface changes and even off and fast track conditions to try and hit her mark. Maybe it all just boiled down to maturity and a persistent trainer to stick to his game plan.

Going runner-up in this event was Second Chance Farms Eutectoid Point, who was trying to engineer a stay near the frontend of the event throughout, but when it came time to strike in the final closing strides, she was just outrun by the charge of the eventual winner. This was the only entry for the northern oval opening weekend for this trainer.

While she tried all she could to stay out front and try to capture this title leading, Miss Ideal Phooey ( Childs Play ) would find herself in a three way battle in the final stage, as others were pushed on to slip her to third. She did earn the respect being made post time favorite, as well as a 93 SRF number, the best of her career.

Keeping the group to within two lengths of the eventual winner, the final two entries of Make You Blush ( Rampage Stables ) and Commanding Lady ( Estero Farms ) would be separated by two one-hundreds of a second for the final purse share. Both are talented runner and if they find the right oval or distance in the next couple attempts, should be at the top of their game and winning.
