Fifth Season of The Schiller Attracts Ten

While the first three seasons of the one mile Schiller were all captured by three year olds, last season we seen Night Rider Stables Far Too Cool become the first four year old to complete the task. His final time of 1:32.91 tied the Event Record set in the events inaugural season by Jediminds Stables Sovereign Society.

  • The Schiller – Purse $150.000
  • Aqueduct Racetrack – For Three years old and up
  • One Mile – Inner Turf course
  • Saturday November 9th, 2019.

While Night Rider Stables has chosen to be absent this season and not try to recapture this event, 2017 winning trainer Nakamura Stables will be looking to see if he can get his second victory here. He has been active in all four previous seasons, with a record of 1-1-2, so he knows how to send out a thoroughbred that will bring home some form of purse money. Saturday’s entry has a record of 9 ( 3-4-1 ) on the grass, so watch for this one to grab a spot on the tote.

1 Tony Lemon ( John Henry ) ( B g. 3 ) – Was claimed this September out of his most recent OpClm25 seven furlong turf race at Belmont where he placed fourth. Has the benefit of 50 days off from racing to prepare. Has won two of eight on the grass, and this will be his first attempt at a stakes event this season after two unsuccessful attempts as a two year old. Trainer has earned over 17 thousand with runners away 31-60 days. Rail will help.

2 Sound Decision ( Gdp Inc ) ( Ch.g. 5 ) – Has earned two wins and a runner-up effort in his past three affair. Took home victories in an Alw 42 and a Alw51 events, and split those two events with a second place finish in the Gr. II Baruch Handicap over a good inner turf surface at Saratoga. Eight of his twelve career wins have come on the grass and recent finishes should rate this one a closer look. Works:24Oct19 PRX 7f(T) fm 1:23B 3/10

3 Deep Under It ( Nakamura Stables ) ( Bl. g. 4 ) – Attempted a shorter five and a half furlong turf event last time out, and against a fast final winning time of 1:01 flat, this four year old closed from ninth place, to a second place finish missing by a length. Does get to stretch out here and will definitely benefit from this distance giving his closing style of running. Should sit just off the pace here, then strike down the lane. Factor.

4 Equivocal ( Smokey Stover ) ( B g. 3 )- This trainer has been cruising at about 30,000 feet since his efforts in this years Breeders Cup events. After his first career try on the dirt, this sophomore has made his last six starts on the grass, bringing home three victories. He most recently captured an OpClm62.5 event at BEL going seven furlongs in a very sharp 1:20 flat, so the extra furlong will be a blessing. His two stakes tries were at twelve panels, so that distance was a bit too far. In the hunt. No Recent Works.

5 Expert Eye ( TwinTowersRacing ) ( Ch. c. 3 ) – Will someone please take down the horse for sale sign from the fence post! Has been shuffled around between five owners over the past year, and has now returned to one of those previous trainers. This trainer was successful at getting this chestnut his maiden victory in his opener of the season, but then he was passed around the barns on the backside considerably. Hopefully the return to this trainer has him back in form once again after his recent victory.

6 Charming Passion ( Wolfs Den ) ( B g. 3 ) – Horse closed out last season winning and breaking his maiden in mid November. Was lost in the shuffle with the large barn he was located in and didn’t race again until this September where he was claimed for $7.500 off another win. His new trainer has had him racing in higher claiming levels in his two most recent, but has yet to claim another victory. Definitely prefer the turf and recent works have him back on his toes for this one.

7 The Joker ( D J C Racing Stables ) ( Bl g. 5 ) – Has been racing in nothing but Graded company events in his past six starts, and trainer is taking the drop to pick up some cash to pay the feed bill. Had two runner-up efforts in both the Gr. I Man Of War back in May, then again in the Gr. II DMR Handicap in mid August. His last race saw him placing fourteenth, four lengths shy in the Gr. I Shadwell Turf Mile. Takes this major drop to look to get him refocused and hopefully back to the winner circle. No thinking about this one. Velazquez has the reins as well,

8 Charleys Glance ( Maxmillion Farm ) ( B c. 3 ) – Has just one win and a runner-up finish this season in seven trips to the gate. While this trainer has only been in the picture for his last four starts, he has been getting some nice SRF numbers out of this sophomore. Has not been in the top three in any of those four events, but hopes he can grab a share here. Is returning from a 48 day layoff, and hopefully the rest has paid off. Their are tougher entered here, so he will need his best effort. Bullet work might tell the tale at the line.

9 Marx Daddy ( Ace Racing Stables ) ( Bl. g. 3 ) – One of the newest barns here at HRP, has just 80 starts here in his inaugural season and it seems the trainer has been snatching up some nice active runners. Is impressive on the stakes campaign, with a record of 4 ( 1-1-1 ), so hopefully this recent claim will continue the trend. Has been away just 31 days off the claim, and his single work on the downhiller at SA is sufficient to put up a fight. May be an uphill battle, or may just earn some respect today!!

10 Born To Party ( Oquinn Farm ) ( Ch. g. 3 ) – Broke his maiden at the end of April of this year, then stepped up to the plate to partake in the Gr. II Wise Dan Stakes at Churchill, finishing two shy in seventh. His most recent event on 26th of July against Alw51 company had him closing late to miss by a nose at ELP. Trainer must have felt he needed work before bringing him back to the racing surface, and now some 100+ days later and two recent works, lets see if he has him ready. I’m taking a pass.
