5 CD The Roxelana ![]()
$200.00 4yo&Up F&M 6f Dirt 122lbs +penalties
Five sprinting ladies will kick-off the stakes action on opening day, here in Louisville, and we look at the field for The Roxelana. This is a six furlong test, on the main track, and the fact that The Card and I agree on absolutely nothing may tell the greater tale.
I’m going with Chocolate Bomber, fresh off of that near miss runner-up effort in the Manatee Hcp at TAM. She hasn’t won since taking the Any Limit at GP in Mar of last season, but has been close in a number of races. I’ll take a shot with her today.
Let’s go right next door and give Striking N a chance to get the job done, as well. That one switched hands at the Mar Auction for $130.11, and didn’t show much for the new connections. Note that it was a two-turn race and with the layoff, may have been a bit more distance than she wanted on the come back. This is more her style and she could rebound at a price.
The Card took Memphis Reins, fresh off a pair of sharp Alw race efforts, and Journey East, stable mate of Striking N… that one moving from turf to dirt and was claimed for $12.50 in her last out win.
Grab a cold-snack and let’s get a good spot to watch this one… and note that neither of us picked Scenic Route, so expect her to win by five.
