  7   DMR     San Clemente Stakes (GII)

We head out to the DMR turf for a small but talented field of five three-year-old fillies and we look at the field for the San Clemente Stakes (GII), going a mile here in SoCal.  I landed on Amalfi as my top selection in this one.  She knows how to get the job done, was very competitive last out in the Mother Goose (GII) and I just think she will be in front when they hit the wire.   I like the rail horse, as well… and I’d give Max a look with Kinbo Star.  Those should make nice exactas on the bottom of the top selection.

Here’s The Field –

Looked good winning the Honeymoon Stakes (GIII) on the SA turf then closed well to be third in the Selene (GIII) at WO on the wet sod up there.  She’s only has six starts, has won three of those and can certain improve and be a huge factor here today. 

She has five wins from thirteen career trips to the starting gate and she looks tough in here today.  Won the Miss PS Stakes (GIII) and was close in a pair of graded races, one before and one after that win.  If she gives her best effort, I think she’s the one to beat. 

Part of the Maxmillion Farm entry and she comes here with a pair of wins including the OB Distaff where she closed fast down the lane to bring home a nice check.  Another like that would certainly make her a handful with this bunch, so keep her in mind as you head to the windows.

She’s still looking for her first win of the ’21 season but has a second and a third from her give seasonal starts.  She will need to turn it up with this lot or it could be a long day for her.

Had the lead late in the Tepin at CD in her most recent and that seems to be the story for her, she shows speed but seems to get tired late.  Can she turn that around today?
