Five Little Pigs Proves That Pigs Can Fly in The PRM Cornhusker Handicap

The PRM Cornhusker Handicap – Grade III
1 1/8 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $300.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Five Little Pigs Nolespan Racing Franco G

Either Nolespan is a genius or they got lucky. Either way, they have turned their $5.000 claim from just 3 months ago into a stakes winner. Looking long and hard, it’s impossible to find the reasons behind this one’s amazing improvement. I thought that maybe it was the step up from sprinting, but this horse was beaten in an $8.000 claimer over this trip as a four year old. So, then I looked at adds and, sure enough, nothing had changed there. Running style, well he stalked the pace over this trip in a $2.000 RIL allowance and was beaten ten lengths, so it wasn’t that. Works, well he was working :58 2/5 as a three year old and is now working pretty much the same, so not that either. So, how did he win this race by an easy two lengths……I guess only Nolespan Racing knows that, and maybe they don’t, but the fact remains, he was a good winner today of only his third race and who knows what will happen next.

The key here looks to be the slow pace. He was close up, and when they all started running, he was in an ideal spot to strike. Strange that the winner couldn’t quicken as well, but we all know that leading is tough even on a slow pace at HRP. So massive congratulations to Nolespan Racing who has now notched up their eighth graded stakes win which makes up almost 10 percent of their total career wins, a record that even the biggest and best would struggle to match.

2nd Pure Gifts Mb Stables Velazquez J R

Speaking of the biggest and the best, I reckon even the great one couldn’t have predicted that this horse would get beat by Five Little Pigs on level weights. Just to give a comparison, when the winner was taking a $5.000 claimer, he was winning an open allowance at SA, beating none other than Pretty Ferro. So at least no one can ever say HRP is predictable.

3rd Joffre Mb Stables Bejarano R

Ran a close third after just whacking away off the slow pace. Its pretty much ditto as far as this result goes.

4th Smoking Makes You Il Maxmillion Farm Saez L

Ran into a close fourth, proving his rapidly improving works are no fluke.
