How close is close?  How would you like to be eleventh, only beaten two lengths?  Now THAT is close… and thus the story of the Muniz Memorial Hcp (GII) at FG on Saturday.  The margins were ns-ns-1/2-hd-no-no-no-dh-dh-1/4… that takes you to eleventh beaten a mere two lengths… now, up on the front end, Mb Stables‘ Flaming Hot edged TwinTowersRacing’s Fire And Ice, as the Big Stable’s long-shot won the photo at 20/1 odds, taking the lion’s share of the $300.000 purse.  It was another nose to Alydar Stables’ Details Matter in third, then a half-length to Rentanen, from Royalty Stables, in fourth.  The final running time was 1:44.70 for the mile and a sixteenth, and the FG turf course was listed as Firm.
