The word must have been out…  sent off as the $1.25 favorite in Sunday’s DMR Derby (GII), Foggy Vision hadn’t won a race since breaking his maiden last fall.  Well, the rest is history.  Racing mid-pack for most of this one, the bay gelding responded when asked upon and went by them late to score by a half length in a final time of 1:46.07.  Dwight D Eisenhower was second, three quarters of a length in front of Swiss Bank Account in third.

The field of five were away quickly with Dwight D Eisenhower on the gas early, Rogue Warrior towards the inside with Jack The Flipper on the rail.  Foggy Vision just off of that pair and Swiss Bank Account was the early trailer.

Now midway on the clubhouse turn and they were giving each other some space to race.  Dwight D Eisenhower on the front end by a length and a half.  Rogue Warrior giving chase in second, a length back to Jack The Flipper, two more back to Foggy Vision and Swiss Bank Account was under a hold at the back, seven lengths from the leader.

The field was headed down the backside with a half mile to run and Dwight D Eisenhower had lead every step of this one and was in front by two and a half lengths.  Rogue Warrior still in second, Jack The Flipper on the rail and just off of that one in third.  Two more lengths back to Foggy Vision and Swiss Bank Account still under a hold at the back and eight lengths from the leader.

Around the far turn, to the top of the land and past the three-sixteenth’s pole, Dwight D Eisenhower’s still in front by nearly two lengths.  Rogue Warrior now asked to go as Foggy Vision was on the move three wide and closing in fast.  Jack The Flipper still on the hedge and Swiss Bank Account now swinging out for the closing drive – only four lengths from front to back.

Inside the furlong marker and all of the sudden we had a horse race – Dwight D Eisenhower had seen his lead shrink to a half-length as Foggy Vision was closing fast.  Rogue Warrior could do no better and Swiss Bank Account was coming after them, as Jack The Flipper called it a day.

Down to the final 150-yards and to the finish, Foggy Vision was flying down the center of the course, went by Dwight D Eisenhower to take the lead and went under the wire in front by nearly a length.  Dwight D Eisenhower held sway for second in front of Swiss Bank Account in third.  Rogue Warrior was fourth and Jack The Flipper closed this one out.

Foggy Vision is a 3yo gelded son of In The Fog – Social Drinker, by Red Rioja, and he was bred by Yahudi Stables in NJ.  Acquired by Sanny Village via private sale for $176.000 prior to the start of his racing career he now has two wins from eleven starts, surprisingly both of those wins are stakes scores, and he has earned $362.200.
