Fooled Ya Takes the Honors in Solana Beach Stakes

Solana Beach Stakes
1 Mile Turf Stake Purse $150.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up Foaled In CA.

Inevitable, predictable and obvious are three words you can use these days when a three year old faces older horses. It seems that the weight for age difference has basically rendered most horses of four years or older useless although i must admit the three year old that did win was gloriously unpredictable.

1st Fooled Ya, trained by Mm Racing
Well the name certainly says it all as this filly that has raced primarily on dirt and over all sorts of trips suddenly decided she was a turf miler. Way back in April she won her maiden on the turf in a  very fast five furlong time but for some reason the trainer switched her back to dirt and campaigned her all over the place. She did pretty well though and today really showed her hidden talents with a very easy win. Booted up front from her wide gate she was steadied into the stalk before readily taking it up and never looking in danger after that.

2nd Wisconsin Laff, trained by Blushing Meadows
Ran her usual honest race and should be lauded for actually beating some three year olds but predictably there was one too good and she had to settle for second.

3rd Opinionated, trained by Mb Stables
Ran well enough to be third a shade behind the runner up. Any three year old that cant beat a four year old these days is distinctly ordinary but she had her excuses so may be worth another chance in this grade.

4th La Gran Senora, trained by Rockitpad
Had looked a decent sprinter and ran well for six furlongs suggesting she may need to step back in trip again.
