Form Book Plays Out Perfectly in The BC Derby

The BC Derby – Grade III
1 1/8 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $150.000 Open 3 Year Olds.

1st Socraties, trained by John Henry
It looked for a moment that the mud inside the final furlong would find this one out as it carried its lead past the mile pole. However the gelding dug deep and clung on gamely by a neck giving us the right result. Unbeaten on easy ground it certainly looks like he was born with webbed hooves as he took hs second graded stakes and third win in the wet.

2nd Treasure Trove, trained by Mb Stables
Starting near the back from the wide draw it was always going to be tough to make ground in the mud but he made a valiant effort and only failed by a neck. A consistent performer he may not be one of the best from the stable but he is an honest sort who will continue to pay his way at this sort of level.

3rd Bersagliere, trained by Hambletonian Stables
Went to the lead but was always vulnerable there especially at HRP. Looking beaten as they entered the stretch he still managed third in the end which was probably the right place on the form book.

4th Prince Of Anglona, trained by Eastern Equine
Soundly beaten but a glance at his form doesnt make that surprising. Never really in contention he whacked away in the end for a distant fourth.

SUMMARY
Despite the muddy going the form book played out perfectly with the first two clear.
