The Forward Gal Stakes is a Very Tough Kentucky Oaks Points Race

The Forward Gal Stakes – GIII [KYO]
1/30/21
GP Race 8 7F – Dirt
Purse $100.000
Three Year Olds Fillies

Here we have a full field of twelve for this years running of the Forward Gal Stakes here at Gulfstream Park and it offers Kentucky Oaks points. A very good field and one of the few Oaks points race that is a sprint. Lets take a look at the field.

1. Carrie Ann (6-2-2-1 $133.800), trained by Crocker Ggs

First up in the field here and coming into this race off of a sixth in a graded stake up at Woodbine on a bad track in her start around two turns. She did win a stake at Woodbine at this same distance. I think she is going to like the distance but not sure if she will be able to handle this competition.

2. Billie Bird (6-4-2-0 $86.160), trained by Lindeman Prairie

Two time stakes winner here and she won a statebred stakes at Charles Town and then won a first level allowance race followed up by a stakes win at Golden Gate. She has proven to be a talented runner but she has never stepped up to this tough of competition.

3. Ragin Red (4-2-1-0 $68.470), trained by Ace Racing Stable

Next up in this field here and she won her last race which was a first level allowance race at Fair Grounds in her first start for this barn. She ran a good race there but she has never stepped over five furlongs. Big jump up in class and distance for her.

4. Rum Dummy (6-3-0-0 $89.700), trained by Mb Stables

Moving to this filly here and she is a graded stakes winner. Her last start was a win in a second level allowance race at Hawthorne. She tried some grade ones and did not necessarily fair too well. I do think seven furlongs will be better for her.

5. Just My Imagination (6-3-2-0 $190.700), trained by Second Chance Farms

Another statebred stakes winner in the field and she almost won a grade three in her last start at Woodbine around two turns. She is very consistent runner and I think the seven furlongs will be a decent distance for her. She should have a decent chance in here.

6. Not A Big Deal (8-5-1-0 $508.580), trained by Mb Stables

Second runner for Mb Stables in the field here and she is a multiple grade one winner already. She won the Del Mar Debutante and the Alcibiades. Last two starts have not been the best but I think she will bounce back and have a good chance in this field.

7. Franchise Filly (3-2-0-0 $63.000), trained by Sharis Stables

And another stakes winner in the field here and she won over this same exact track just about a month ago in the Glitter Woman. Ran good in that race and she will be facing some stiff competition right here. Going to have to step up big time in this field.

8. Classy And Sassy (5-3-0-0 $77.860), trained by Sccj Stables

Coming into this race off of a three race win streak including a win in a statebred stakes race at Los Alamitos around two turns. She ran very well in that race and if she improves off of that she might have a decent chance in this field.

9. Sundress (6-2-1-0 $150.400), trained by Our Athletes

And once again another stakes winner in the field and she won a stake at Keeneland on the undercard of the Breeders Cup. Came back and ran a closing second at Aqueduct. The distance should be good for her and I think she could have a good shot in this field.

10. Ms Joyce (9-3-1-1 $207.300), trained by RNP Stables

Once again another graded stakes winner in this field and she is coming into this race off of four races in a row. I think sprinting can be better for her and she should be able to run better than she has been in previous races.

11. Mendocino Gal (6-5-0-0 $240.000), trained T Boy Racing

My filly here and she has won five races in a row including four stakes with two being against the boys but it has been against statebred runners. I think she is a very talented but it is still undecided if she can beat open stakes company and I hope she can run a big race.

12. Versailles (3-2-0-0 $74.280), trained by D J C Racing Stables

Last but not least in the field here and she is coming into this race off of a stakes win here at Gulfstream at a one turn mile. She ran a very good race that day and if she can get a good trip out of this post she may be able to run a good race.

13. Bless Her Heart (7-3-1-0 $32.630), trained by M.a.r Racing

Summary

A very stacked field here and there is some very tough fillies in this field for sure. My top pick here is the two time grade one winner Not A Big Deal. I think there is some very good fillies here and it is a very tough race. Good luck to all in the field.
