Four Entered in The La Coneja Stakes

Four Year Olds and Up Fillies and Mares NM Breds

A field of four New Mexico bred fillies and mares have been entered up for this years running of the La Coneja Stakes here at Sunland Park. The defending Loki Has The Flu is back in this race for me but she looks up against it. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Charlotte Flair (9-4-2-3 $156.620), trained by Greeko Holdem

First runner in the field and she is maybe the best one in the field. She won the NM Classic Cup Distaff three races back and was third in the Bold Ego Handicap two back. She won an allowance race nicely in her last start and she looks like she will be awfully tough to beat in here.

2. Twisted Pirate (16-4-5-2 $124.200), trained by Night Rider Stables

Now to this mare here who is coming into this off of a pretty decent layoff. She has not ran since a second place finish in an optional claimer against New Mexico breds at the end of September. She has ran well in stakes before but she is tailing off maybe a little by the looks of her works.

3. Truly Deeply Madly (21-7-3-8 $165.580), trained by Jive Inc.

Next one in the field here and she is coming into this race off of a third place finish in the grade three Rampart. She had been beating up on lesser competition and she did pick up a stakes win at Turf Paradise. She will have to run a big race but she is definitely capable of it I think.

4. Loki Has The Flu (35-11-5-10 $202.370), trained by T Boy Racing

My old mare here and she did win this race last year. I claimed her in her last for twelve dollars and change in a non winners in six months race but she did run well that day. She needs to run as well as she did last year to stand at chance at winning. Tough post also.

Summary

Charlotte Flair looks the one to beat in her for me but I think really any one of the four can get it done with some racing luck. I think Charlotte Flair could go ahead and take this field the whole way on the lead if she can go slow enough. Good luck to all in the field.
