RACE 1 KEE   Bewitch (GIII)

$150.000   4yo&Up F&M    1 1/2m  Turf

Four ladies will be going the marathon distance on the lush KEE turf course as we look at the field for the 2015 Bewitch (GIII).  This looks like a two horse race to me – I’ll take Tight Pockets on top on her back-class… well, heck, she’s all class.  She was second in the BC F&M Turf last year, and has looked good in both of her ’15 starts.  She may just get in front and improve position from there.

Let’s put Vorurtle under her.  I think she’s the only other proven distance horse.  She doesn’t get a lot of wins but she’s always around for a check… and that seems to be the situation here.

Here’s the Field…

Even paced race at GP in the Orchid (GIII) last out, going today’s distance.  That was on he inner course and the tight turns may have played games with her off-the-pace plan.  Smaller field here today and the pace/course should play better to her strengths.  Look for her to run a big one.

Close a bit of ground last out in the Santa Anna (GII) at SA, but didn’t do anything to help her payday.  She was second on BC Day in the F&M Turf (GI) so you know she has ability and like distance.  Only a single work since that stakes run at SA, but it was a nice 6f drill on the hill-side at SA.  Her dad was a grass running son-of-a-gun, and she may be the one to beat.

Steps up to graded horses again after a win at a mile and three furlongs v. Opt horses at TUP.  Obviously this is a tougher group than that, so she has her work cut out for her.  She was third in the My Charmer (GIII) last year, but this is certainly going to be an acid test.

Claimed for $15.00 last out and now goes the marathon distance on the first start back for the new connections.  She’s never been the distance and actually has never been past a mile and a sixteenth, so this leaves a bunch of questions in my mind.
