Four Left Feet Earns Number Four in KD Ladies Sprint

Win number four of her career and her second stakes title, Four Left Feet (Mb Stables) has been solidifying her position as a definite threat for this seasons BC Turf Sprint. The four points earned has her placed 14th in the standings, among a group of a nice mix of ladies and men in the top twenty.

  • KD Ladies Sprint ( Gr. III )- Purse $500.000
  • Kentucky Downs- For Fillies & Mares Three years old and up.
  • Six and one half furlongs- Turf course

Four Left Feet has now won back to back victories in her past two starts, and this event is now her first ever Graded company event. She seems to be following in the footsteps of her half brother Questionable and half sister Conviction at becoming a Graded company champion.

Looking not to getting caught up in the battle on the front in the early stages of this event, jockey Velazquez would position her in eighth place over this distinct euro style turf course here at KD. Five back after the opening quarter was posted in 22.67, she managed to maintain that distance from the leader after the half went in 45.23. She would start to put in an effort coming to the stretch, now having to contend with eventual runner-up finisher Twinny ( Maxmillion Farm ) popping out from behind a wall of runners to step in front of her push. With a furlong to run, D J C Racing Stables Cry Out was still on top by a length and a half to a wall of five runners, with Four Left Feet just to the outside of this wall by a half a length. Hitting the sixteenth pole prior to the wire, and now Twinny and Four Left Feet were in a head to head battle to the outside of Cry Out, while Pink Kitten ( Threshold ) was doing the same to her inside. At the wire in a final time of 1:14.38, the photo would have the Mb Stable’s chestnut filly as the winner by a head. Pink Kitten closed to finish just a neck back with Cry Out a minor three quarters of a length shy.

So what next for Four Left Feet? If she wants to go longer she may look towards the Grade I Flower Bowl on the sixth of next month, or if she decided to compete against the boys this year in the BC Turf Sprint, the Buffalo Trace Franklin has been the typical next move. If her trainer has no interest in the BC run this season, we may see her in the Autumn Miss or possibly one of the restricted California races in October. She will definitely be putting in her best effort in which ever avenue she is sent forward in.

For 15-1 runner-up Twinny, this effort was definitely her best in her past six graded races, even though she won the Gr. III Penny Memorial. Five of her seven career wins have come in sprint events while she has pretty well split her efforts with route races. Her next race should give us a better look at which way Max will concentrate her efforts for the future.

Third was Pink Kitten who has shown she can run with some of the top ladies in the game. Her trainer made a big step up with her two starts ago and hopefully she will not fall to that bid to move her along too quickly. Just a sophomore, next season should be the long term focus for her so she will nit be used up to early.

Trying to win this event from gate to wire was Cry Out. Trying a more dramatic effort for this event over past races, hopefully her trainer has earned a valuable message from this effort. The shorter Buffalo Trace Franklin may suit this style of running effort and she could return there with some of these.

5th-7th– Post time favorite Helping People ( Mb Stables )would just nip out Royal Kunia ( Smokey Stover )for fifth place. The latter runner had just faced her first ever loss after six straight victories. Both would finish just a length shy with Royal Kunia closing up some six lengths. Seventh was captured by Levi Sneaky ( Estero Farms ) who sits sixth in BC Turf Sprint race, so she will need to find a suitable race in her next effort.

8th-12thMade It Through ( Mb Stables ) narrowly beating out Team 7 Illusions The Squaw for eighth place. Tenth would be awarded to Xtra Hot ( Gdp Inc ) ahead of both Dalitierri Girl ( Our Athletes ) and First Street Stables Pidgeon.
