I don’t know if this one turned out the way Wood Duck Stables thought it would, but I bet they will cash the check.  The lightly raced Frenchman made it two wins from three starts as the gray got home in front by a length to take Saturday’s CA Cup Derby, stopping the clock in 1:41.54 for the mile and a sixteenth.  The main track was listed as fast.  That time was only 6/100ths off of the stakes record.  Joachim made a nice late run, but settled for the second spot, a length in front of Mountain Top in Third, then another length to What A Joke in fourth.  Thirteen lengths covered the field.
