Freshman Fillies to the Lawn in BC Juvenile Fillies Turf

7   KEE      BC Juvenile Fillies Turf – Grade 1
  $1,000.000         2yoF         1m Turf                 122lbs

“The Most Beautiful Place On Earth”… I’ve loved KEE since the first time I stepped on the grounds and it’s the perfect facility for this years BC Championship races.  Friday gets us kicked off on a huge two-days of racing and we look at the field for the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf (GI) to be run at a flat mile on the KEE turf course.

As expected the gate is full as is the AE list and we have a ton of talent ready to go at it here today.  Against my normal handicapping principals, I’m going to the far outside post for my top choice.  Gaeilic Wonder is lightly raced with only four starts, but she’s been one/two every time she’s stepped on the track.  That near miss in the Natalma Stakes (GI) at WO tells me she’s ready to fire another big one here today… she can fly late and I’m not exactly sure how she will handle the turns/traffic today, but I think she is the one to get past.  Getting back down towards the inside, I’ll take Daratoga G in the second spot.  She’s won both of her starts since being purchased from the September Auction and the conditioner surely knows how to work his magic with the big money is on the line.  She has enough early pace where traffic shouldn’t be an issue and I think she will run big today.  Stargazing is her stable-mate and lightly raced with only three starts, but she also runs hard and should improve off of that last-out third up north of the border.

It should be a great race so let’s get down to the rail for a good spot to watch this group of fillies.  Best of luck and congratulations to all of the participants.  Well done!

Here’s the Field –

1
Painville    Mb Stables    Lezcano J   122

9/1

Had a three race win streak snapped when taking on graded horses for the first time.  Now, Mb Stables has a barn full of horses so he has to think this one has this type of ability or he wouldn’t bring her to the dance.  Still, I think she will have to run her eyeballs out to get in the middle of this one.

2
Common Misconception    Nakamura Stables    Ryan S   122

4/1

Comes into this one with three consecutive wins including a nice win over this track in the Jessamine (GII).  I’m a big believer in horses-for-courses and her close-to-the-pace style should help alleviate traffic issues in this large field.  She was 10/1 in that local win, and I’d take those odds today.  Give her a big look.

3
   Daratoga G    Aer Stables    Bisono J   122   7/2

Aer sure does have an eye for a horse via the claiming box and at the auction.  Picked this one up for $54.550 at the Sept Auction and has won both starts under his tutelage, taking the Miss Grillo (GII) at BEL in her most recent.  She looks ready for another big run today and I think she will make her presence felt.

4
Down In The Gulley    Luz International    Castellano J J   122   8/1

Has a pair of wins including the AP Washington Lassie, and was second in the fore-mentioned Jessamine (GII).  Other than her first start on the grass, she’s really never had a bad race and looks like she could be any type.  This is the best of the best so she will need to stay on the improve.

5
   Crispr    Mb Stables    Bejarano R   122   7/1

The second half of the Mb Stables duo and seems like the one that could do some real damage, in my eye.  She’s been tough in every start and closed well to get the job done in the Our Dear Peggy at GP last out.  She will need to improve to compete with these, but this barn knows how to get it done.

6
   Stargazing    Aer Stables    Beschizza A   122   15/1

The second half of the Aer Stables duo and this one is lightly raced with only three starts, but she broke maiden at SA in her first start and has been third in both of her subsequent starts, including a near miss third in the Natalma Stakes (GI) at WO, in her first mile effort.  She certainly could upset the apple cart.

7
   Shes A Super Freak    YME Stable    Hernandez J J   122   9/1

She’s super consistent, that’s for sure.  Only four starts but she broke maiden at SAR back in July, then was rested only to run a fast closing second in the Miss Grillo (GII).  She may have needed that one and could be ready to run a big race here today.

8
   Dukes Pink    Maxmillion Farm    Bridgmohan S X   122   9/2

She broke maiden vs stakes horses in her fourth start and set the pace only to tire late and end up fourth in the Jessamine (GII) over this track.  She loves to flaunt her speed and they may try to run off and hide in this one as well… look for her to be in front for at least part of it, but how much?

9
   Recession    D J C Racing Stables    Garcia Mar   122   6/1

Only three starts for this talented filly showing two wins and a second from her trio of starts.  Closed like a freight train taking the Surfer Girl Stakes at SA in her last out triumph.  If she can get a clear path, she should be a late factor, if the traffic doesn’t get her.

10
Casting Couch Cutie    Arindel    Gutierrez Mario   122   10/1

Figured this race horse thing out in her fifth start, breaking maiden at DMR, then winning at WO, taking the Natalma Stakes (GI) by a nose in wire to wire fashion.  She loves the front and should be out there winging it again today, but can she carry it to the wire.

11
Bring It On    Luz International    McCarthy T   122   10/1

Really hasn’t shown a bad race in her first starts, two of those wins including a stakes win at LAD on the grass.  She closed well over this track to be third in the Jessamine (GII) so you know she likes this surface.  She should be able to hold her own here.

12
   Abracadabra    Patterson Stables    Parker D L   122   8/1

Broke maiden in her first start for the new owner after they plunked down $450.000 for her, so you know they love her.  Winning a stakes in her first start for the new connections was certainly an eye-opener, so watch this one today as she could spell trouble.

13
Shes One Of A Kind    Maxmillion Farm    Davis D   122   8/1

Only a single win from her four starts but she has been close in her last two starts including a third in the Miss Grillo (GII) after setting the pace in that one.  She loves flashing the speed and should be towards the front in this one as well.  Can the outside speed bias send her hom?

14
Gaeilic Wonder    Smokey Stover    Tunon M   122   7/2

This one would probably be my odds-on favorite if she didn’t get cast out here in the far outside post.  Two wins and two seconds from her four starts and she just missed in the Natalma Stakes (GI) last out, making a huge move down the lane.  Traffic is my worry here… well, and that fourteen saddle cloth.

15
Bad Break    Team 7 Illusions    No Rider   122   AE

She could be a contender if she’s lucky enough to draw into the field.  Especially if they get rain on Friday, but with a 10% chance, neither is likely to happen.

16
Match On A Fire    Alydar Stables    No Rider   122   AE

I think traffic cost this one a check last out and perhaps a chance to be in this race.  I think she’s a nice horse and should be watched in upcoming races.

17
Ultimately Flawed    Williams9    No Rider   122   AE

Has been close in her last two, but just didn’t make enough to get into this one.  She would need a miracle to draw in.

18
Confrontational    Mo Mentum Farm    No Rider   122   AE

Only four starts but she looks like a nice horse.  Keep an eye on her in an upcoming graded stakes near you.
