Freshmen Face Off in Kendrick Memorial

Kendrick Memorial Stakes – $100.000

SRP – 4 ½ Furlongs – Dirt

For Two Years Foaled in NM

April 23, 2023

This field is a combination of untested maidens and veterans with one start so far in their young careers. Not much to go on, but I’ll give it a try.

1 Old Mexico (Mo Mentum Farm)

This filly looks strong, with a sub-minute 5-furlong work and a blistering 4-furlong work. A gutsy move starting her against the boys and in stakes company.

2 Hanny Beatrice (Jive Inc.)

Broke his maiden in April 2 in State-bred company and made it look easy. Another one working very well, and experience just might get him to the wire first.

3 Southern Oak (Jive Inc.)

Another maiden winner, this gelding won a 2-furlong maiden at TAM. Works aren’t quite as strong as some.

4 Whiskey Party (T Boy Racing)

Broke her maiden at SRP in State-bred company. Only one work to go by, and that was back in March. Wouldn’t count her out, just not much to go on.

5 War In The Bahamas (Jokerjoes)

First start for this colt. Working very well.

6 Magic Runner (Asgar)

Only start for this colt was not a winning one, but he turned in a dynamite work at SA last week, the 9th fastest of any 2-year-old this year. Definitely one to watch.

Picks: 2-6-1
