Both Black And Red ( Australia Wide ) and eventual winner Deadly Rivalry ( Nakamura Stables) would use there upfront running styles to dictate the pace, and come home one/two at the wire in the fifth of six stakes affairs at GG.

While we didn’t see any sub 46 fractions for the half mile, 3-2 post time favorite Black And Gold would get himself out on top by the top of the backstretch, and maintain the lead for the next five furlongs. It wouldn’t be until the final 200 feet in the event, that Deadly Rivalry would see an opening to Black And Red’s inside, as he slipped from the rail and opened the door.
The win is the third of five career starts for Deadly Rivalry, and this season he has gone two for three, with a show effort put into the mix as well. He has made a major jump from 82 -95 SRF numbers in his last three, and he should score at least a 92 or better for this event. Definitely would like to see him add another sixteenth to his distance in the future, as maturity this season has been the key to his success.
Black And Red stayed around for the place purse as others were closing down on him in the final 50 feet to the line. He was a purchase back in late February for just under $125.000, and he will need a couple of wins for this veteran trainer to start repaying that debt. Once the King of HRP, trainer Australia Wide has dwindle in the past two seasons with runners, but he still likes to show up for the party in the end.
Rounding out the $1149.300 trifecta payout and returning a nice $42.500 payout for his show backers, Full Of Life ( Rampage Stables ) would win out in the show photo ahead of Pish ( Gdp Inc. ) and La Pavoniere ( Shirmfirm Stables ) . All three were in full stride approaching the line and made for a cheering crowd right up till the end. This is Full Of Life’s second show placing against $100 level non graded company, and that may help his trainer focus on what level to compete in future endeavors.
I did happen to catch up with Sam from the new stables of Shirmfirm. I was surprised to see he was in conversation with the likes of Lane Luzzi, Austin Guftasson and Lane’s agent Bradley White. These were the people who put him on to HRP to begin with, and I personal would like to welcome him to our family. He informed me he purchased La Pavoniere to give him a runner to compete in Graded Stakes. ” I still not sure what I am doing yet here even though I have real race horses, he informed me. ” I have bred some 250 two year olds over the past two months, so hopefully I have a couple of nice winners in the bunch.” So if you get a chance, drop Sam a line and welcome him to the family, and maybe drop him a pointer or two along the way!!
