Two Year Olds
A group of twelve two year olds will he lining up on the oceanside oval at Del Mar. It’s a very big field and there is a lot of horses that their trainers think they are very good horses. It’s a full field too so that will make an interesting race and it should be very exciting. Let’s take a look at the field.
1. Hard To Kill (2-1-0-0 $27.000), trained by Mb Stables
The first of two entries from Mb Stables is coming off of a statebred maiden race win at MTH last time when he won that race by one length. He is a New Jersey bred which you don’t see a lot of those so I’m not sure how tough that statebred maiden was. He’ll have to run a very big race to win.
2. Undisputed (3-1-0-0 $27.000), trained by John Henry
Here’s a horse with quite a bit of stakes experience in his short career as he has ran in two stakes races in his three starts. He hasn’t ran that good yet in either of them. I don’t really see him getting home either but you never know with these two year olds and especially with this big of a field.
3. Guest Book (3-2-0-0 $96.600), trained by Mb Stables
The second entry from the Mb Stables barn is what looks like his first stringer mainly because this horse has already won a stakes race in his short career. He looks like a pretty nice horse this early in his career and I think I will make him my top choice because he has already won a stakes race.
4. The Word (3-1-1-0 $43.920), trained by Williams9
This horse is coming from the barn of Williams9 and I believe this horse has legitimate chance to win the race. He broke his maiden at CD in his second career start and then came back to run a pretty nice fourth in stakes company at BEL. He ran pretty good that day and I think he has a good chance to win.
5. Chrystal Believer (3-1-1-1 $59.200), trained by Maxmillion Farm
Here’s another horse who is coming out of that stakes race at WO that Guest Book won. This horse ran third in there that day and ran a pretty good race to only get beat by one length. I think he has a good chance and I definitely think he could’ve made up that one length that Guest Book beat him by.
6. Black Scorpion (3-2-0-0 $96.600), trained by Blushing Meadows
Another stakes winning horse in the field is this horse right here but his stakes win only came in a statebred stakes race at WO. I’m not sure how that statebred company will line up against with these rivals but I think he has a decent shot because that was a stakes win and that’s what counts.
7. Peppermint Force (2-2-0-0 $67.500), trained by Allinthegate
Once again we come across another stakes winner in the field and like Black Scorpion he only won a statebred stakes race. That was against New York breds and the ran very good that day to get the money. I think he is a very talented horse but he will have to run a very big race just like the rest of them
8. Sport Guide (3-1-1-0 $36.000), trained by Jader Stable
Here is a horse that was bought for quite a bit of money after his first start and that price was one hundred and ninety dollars. He broke his maiden in his second start and then came back in a grade three but he didn’t run so well in there. I do think he is a very nice horse and I’ll give him a second shot in here.
9. Maybe Tonight (4-1-2-0 $60.040), trained by Alydar Stables
The most experienced runner in the field with four career starts and he has a maiden win and a second place finish in a stakes race last time out against statebred company where he ran second to Black Scorpion. I definitely think he has a shot in here also if he can run a very big race.
10. Born A Diplomat (2-1-0-0 $36.400), trained by D J C Racing Stables
The entry from D J C Racing Stables is one that he bought after he broke his maiden for a very big amount of change which was a price of two hundred forty five dollars and ninety nine cents. He ran fourth in the grade three Bashford Manor and came rolling late. I think he can very good in here.
11. Red Cup (2-1-0-1 $39.840), trained by Our Athletes
A maiden winner last out in statebred maiden race. He won that day pretty easily by two lengths. I don’t know if he is going to he good enough to win the race but I have definitely seen crazier things happen and he might be ready to rumble. I think he has an alright chance to win this race.
12. Not A Pretty One (2-1-1-0 $31.600), trained by Estero Farms
Another horse who just broke his maiden last out with some statebred company. He is not a bad horse at all I don’t think but he is going to really be tested with this type of company and especially since he is out in the parking lot in the gates. He will have to run huge to get the money.
Summary
Well this is a very big field for sure and I honestly believe any single one of the twelve can get the money if they run a very big race. Guest Book looks like the horse to beat to me but I definitely would not count any of them out at all. Good luck to everyone who has one in the race.
