Three Year Olds and Up Fillies and Mares

Almost a full field is going to line up in Arlington Heights, Illinois for a great day of racing action and this may be the best race of the day if it’s not the Arlington Million. It’s a big competitive field and it looks like it’ll be a very good race. Let’s take a look at this big field of eleven fillies and mares.

1. Morning Tea (9-2-3-1 $112.360), trained by Mb Stables

This three year old filly from the Mb Stables barn just ran sixth in the Belmont Oaks by three lengths. She didn’t run terrible but also didn’t run that good of a race but maybe she can improve and run a big race but I just do not see it happening. Best of luck to her but I don’t see her winning.

2. Sandset (11-2-1-3 $286.200), trained by Team 7 Illusions

Another three year old filly who is coming out of the Belmont Oaks but she ran terrible that day and barely beat three others that day after being on the lead for most of the way. She doesn’t look like she has much of a chance but you never know what’ll happen. She doesn’t look like a winner either.

3. Killer Angels (22-5-2-4 $518.670), trained by TwinTowers Racing

The first older filly we come across in the field is a pretty good filly when she runs her race but she hasn’t ran top good as of late. She has ran two ninth place finishes in a row in grade one races on the turf but I know she has it in her somewhere but she just needs to actually show it once again.

4. Drop Her Off (11-4-1-2 $151.490), trained by Mb Stables

The second entry from the Mb Stables barn is a four year old filly who is coming off of a four length win at Saratoga on the rued going a mile and a half. She is a pretty nice filly but I’m actually afraid this distance will be too short for her. Maybe she will run as good as late time and she’ll be tough to beat.

5. I Justwantthe Purple (16-3-6-3 $293.570), trained by Gdp Inc

This three year old filly is coming off of a big graded stakes win last out at WO on the turf. She ran very good that day and she is a nice looking filly. I think if she runs like she did last time she can have a little bit of a shot but she will still have to probably run the race of her life to win the race.

6. Cavalia (6-2-3-0 $128.800), trained by D J C Racing Stables

This entry from the wizard D J C Racing Stables barn just ran a pretty good race last out to run second in a graded stakes race at Saratoga after leading for pretty much the whole way. She is a pretty nice filly but she is another one I just do not see winning but maybe finishing on the bottom of the bored.

7. Quiver Pond (12-6-0-1 $1,437.200), trained by Estero Farms

Here is a multiple grade one winning filly on both turf and dirt but she seems to be better on the turf to me. She just won the Belmont Oaks beating a couple of these rivals that are also in the race. She is my top pick in the race as she looks like she is doing good right now and she’ll be tough.

8. Hide N Seek Pup (14-6-3-2 $414.870), trained by Mb Stables

The second entry from Gdp Inc is this five year old mare who is coming off of a big win last time at DEL in a grade three. She has won a couple of grades stakes and I think she has a legitimate chance to win this race. She will still have to run a huge race to win but I think she can do it with some luck.

9. Sassy One (19-11-3-1 $1,238.010), trained by Smokey Stover

Here is another grade one winner in the field and the best older filly in the field and she has been on a tear in her last five starts not finishing out of the top two in any of them. She is going to be my second choice for sure mainly because she is very nice but also because she is so consistent.

10. Free Sunset (12-3-2-2 $365.920), trained by Team 7 Illusions

Scratched

11. Dee Vee R Star (16-3-4-4 $204.150), trained by Wolfs Den

Here is another one is very consistent as she almost never runs out of the top four. She has been running very good in all these grades stakes she has been running and I think she has a pretty good chance to run good on here but she also will have to overcome the wide post and wide trip.

12. Noble Moment (9-2-1-1 $300.700), trained by Mb Stables

The third and final entry from this barn is the third place finisher from the Belmont Oaks when she came flying from way back to get bronze in there. I think she has a decent shot to do something in here but this outside post is definitely going to hurt her a little bit and I’m not sure she can overcome it.

Summary

Well I think this is a pretty evenly matched group with Quiver Pond and Sassy One the two that are just one click above the rest I think. They are my top two pick and after that I think the ultra consistent Dee Vee R Star might have a decent shot to win it. Good luck to everyone that’s in the race.
