No doubt about it… Sanny Village has She Is Diabolical on her toes right about now.  The 3yo filly moved to the front early in Sunday’s Fury Stakes at WO, and kicked will clear of her four CA-bred foes, winning by a length in 1:22.28 for the seven furlongs – a new stakes record time.

The five ladies loaded up and were away well with post time favorite Yennenga away quickly.  She Is Diabolical giving chase, Skettel right there as well, Weirdo from the rail and Protection was slowest from the gate.

Out of the chute and down the backside, the opening quarter in :22 and four, five furlongs to run and 75/1 long-shot Skettel was in front by three-quarters of a length.  She Is Diabolical towards the rail, gap of two back to Yennenga, Weirdo right behind that one and Protection was still at the back, five lengths from the leader.

Now making their way into he far turn, the half went in :46 flat, they had three-eighth’s of a mile to run and She Is Diabolical slipped up the rail to take the lead.  Skettel now a half-length back, gap of four to Weirdo, Yennenga next to that one, and two more back to Protection, still the trailer.

Into the lane and past the three-sixteenth’s pole, She Is Diabolical now opening up a three length advantage.  Skettel headed in the wrong direction as they bunched up.  Yennenga feeling the whip but had four lengths to make up.  Weirdo being asked for more from a rail position and Protection was now getting a couple of “love taps” and being asked to find her best.

Down the lane and to the wire, this was all about She Is Diabolical as the gray filly kept to the task at hand and took the win by a length in a final time of 1:22 and one.  Yennenga closed a bit of a gap late but was no threat to the winner.  Protection rallied to be third with Skettel fourth and Weirdo closing this one out.

She Is Diabolical is a gray 3yo filly by El Gran Gayley – Diabolic Girl by Charley Farley, and she was bred by Jediminds Stable in Ontario.  Acquired via private sale for $85.000 back in Nov of last season, she now shows three wins from five starts and earnings of $117.540.  This was her first stakes win, but I’m guessing it won’t be her last.  Congratulations to Sanny Village and She Is Diabolical.
