Futurity Seems Like A Wide Open Affair

The Futurity – GIII [BC]
10/11/20
BEL Race 2 6F – Turf
Purse $100.000
Two Year Olds

A field of twelve two year old fillies have been entered up for the Futurity here at Belmont. A full field for this turf sprint should make a very interesting race. They are going for a spot in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint.

1. Gordon Shumway (4-2-1-0 $54.200), trained by High Voltage

First up in the field here is this horse who just ran second by a nose in a five furlong stake at Woodbine on the grass. He ran well in there and should have a decent chance at some money here.

2. Backlash (4-1-1-1 $37.200), trained by D J C Racing Stables

Now to this horse who is also stakes placed in his young career. He was second on a yielding turf course last time here at Belmont. Could have a shot to maybe run a big race here.

3. Sadam (4-1-1-1 $58.800), trained by Night Rider Stables

Also coming out of that five furlong turf stake at Woodbine here and he was third beaten a head that da. He could have a shot with the extra furlong here for sure.

4. Stealth Command (5-2-0-0 $75.000), trained by Estero Farms

A stakes winner in his career and he tried grade one company in his last start at Woodbine. Just overmatched there and back to a sprint he should be pretty tough in this spot.

5. Mr Orange (7-1-0-3 $87.280), trained by Arindel

Very heavily raced horse and he was third in a stake at Santa Anita last out. If he has not been ran too hard so far he could possibly have a little chance at this thing

6. Exhale Fire (4-2-0-0 $58.000), trained by Fractious

Another stakes winner here but this will be this horses first ever start on the grass. If the dirt form holds up he could possibly have a chance at upsetting this field.

7. Rising Courage (5-1-2-1 $67.040), trained by Hunterman Stable

Quite frankly this horse destroyedthe bunch of maidens he faced last out with a dominant three length victory. Maybe the farther the better but if he runs like that again he could be very tough here.

8. Upload (3-1-0-1 $31.600), trained by Mb Stables

First of two for Mb Stables here and this horse was beaten in stakes at Santa Anita last time. Before that won a maiden at Del Mar but has to step it up big time to win here.

9. Burnt To A Crisp (4-2-1-0 $96.880), trained by Mb Stables

The other Mb Stables horse here and he did win a stakes race at Gulfstream last time on a bad track. He will have to prove that last race was not a fluke to win this race here.

10. Yabadabadoo (2-1-0-1 $32.400), trained by Threshold

Not sure what to think of this filly with the boys but my only guess is Threshold did not want to run both of his fillies together. I think she could be up against it with the boys.

11. West Coast Party (7-1-0-4 $75.360), trained by Stald Gullis

Another very experienced horsehere and this horse was just beaten a neck in the grade one Summer. He was fourth there after setting the pace and from this post I think he’ll be out in front once again.

12. Ugly Stick (1-1-0-0 $10.800), trained by First Street Stables

Undefeated in one start here but I reckon that will come to and end here. Tough post to overcome here and he’ll have to run huge to win this race from out here.

Summary

Very tough field and quite a few chances at winning this thing I think. Top choice goes to the five horse here with that stakes win. Good luck to all in the field.
