Genetics Takes Home Saranac

GIII – Saranac

$300.000 Graded Stake 1 1/8 Miles on Turf for Three Year Olds

A small field of five tackled the mile and eighth race at SAR on Saturday afternoon during the last weekend of the summer SAR meet. Hustlin In The Rain went off as the post time favorite coming off the victory in the state bred Robellino Stakes but stealing the show was Genetics out of the barn of Team 7 Illusions.

Out of the gate quickest was Genetics who was able to clear the horses to his inside before hitting the first turn. Around that turn Deep Down took over the lead from the outside of Genetics and lead them into the SAR backstretch.

With four furlongs to go Genetics would take back that lead once again from Deep Down and never look back.

Through the stretch Vegan Restaurant would put together a late rally passing Deep Down but coming up a half length short of catching Genetics. Finishing third was early pace setter Deep Down and rounding out the field was Hustlin In The Rain and Jabba The Hutt.

Congratulations to not only the connections of Genetics but his dam Gianna. In a rare feat she had two foals win stake races on the same day as earlier in the day No Chill was able to take home the $200.000 FL Sire Stakes.

Genetics stopped the clock for the mile and an eighth turf race in 1:45.64.
