Three Year Olds and Up Fillies and Mares

A field of eight fillies and mares have been entered up for this years running of the grade two Beldame here at Belmont. It is one of the last preps for the Breeders Cup Distaff so there is some good mares in here. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Seek Victory (3-1-0-1 $48.000), trained by Mb Stables

The first runner in the field right here is coming into this race off of an eighth place finish in the grade one Personal Ensign. Her only win was in a free track maiden special weight on the turf. She also did run third in the grade one Hirsch though so she could have a shot.

2. Too Much Wisdom (21-9-5-1 $813.480), trained by Mb Stables

The second of three for Mb Stables right here and this filly is coming into this race off of two turf races in a row. She did win the grade two Yellow Ribbon on the turf but she is back to the dirt in here. She is accomplished on dirt also though so she should be able to handle these alright.

3. Ghost In The Shell (11-4-1-1 $724.120), trained by Spankys Barn

A two in a row grade one winner right here as this filly won the Hirsch at Del Mar and the Personal Ensign in her last two races. She really came out of nowhere with those two wins but she has moved right up in this division. She should be very tough to beat in here.

4. Ad Aware (10-3-1-2 $189.210), trained by Mb Stables

And now to the last of three runners for Mb Stables and this filly is coming into this race off of a stakes win at Saratoga against New York bred competition. She is coming into this race off of two wins in a row but this is a big step up in class and I don’t see her winning it.

5. Red Lucy (13-3-2-0 $307.180), trained by The Sidley Stud

Now to this filly who is coming into this race off of a very good second place finish in the grade one Alabama at Saratoga on the mud. She ran very good that day but she has not been able to put races like that together. She will have to run a big one to win.

6. Tenrikyo (10-4-1-0 $1173.000), trained by Smokey Stover

The Kentucky Oaks heroine right here is coming into this race off of three very average efforts in a row. Since that Oaks win she has not been able to repeat that performance and she has been getting beaten fairly easily. She will need to make a big turnaround to have any chance with these.

7. A Girl Has No Name (5-3-0-1 $104.600), trained by Gdp Inc

A very lightly raced filly here and she is coming off of a stakes win against upgraded runners at Saratoga. She did win by a very easy three lengths that day though so she might be ready for tougher. She still needs to run the race of her short career to win in here though.

8. Book Of Aggravation (13-3-3-3 $415.340), trained by Estero Farms

And the final filly in the field right here is coming into this race off of a seventh place finish in the grade one Alabama. She has not ran well in her two starts since she won the grade two Black Eyed Susan. She needs a good trip from this post to win.

Summary

A pretty good field here with some already accomplished runners and some that are trying to make a breakthrough. My top pick has to be Ghost In The Shell off of two grade one wins in a row. Good luck to all in the field.
