Looks like La Canada Racehorses’ continuously improving Ginger Beer has a pretty clear shot at The My Frenchman Stakes with Alydar Stables’ new to turf Colt Of Personality closing behind and Nakamura Stables’ Raining Prince hoping for an outside push to keep his turf record as beautiful as it is. And then there an Mb Stables horse, Jinxed Star, very sharp at KEE and PRX lurking about waiting to capture the gold ring. Here’s the field:

2 Evil Contained Greyhound 93
Evil Contained is basically a dirt horse that took a side track to fiddle with a couple of turf races, third in the $100.00 Shear Mile Stakes and a close fourth in The $225.00 Walker, then back to dirt and here.
3 Ginger Beer La Canada Racehorses 95
Six races ago Ginger Beer won an $8.00 claimer at TAM; last start he won the $150.00 NY Stallion Stakes – Bid. The development looks genuine and consistent. It looks like the next step in his growth is The My Frenchman Stakes.
4 Colt Of Personality Alydar Stables 96
This is the right move for Colt Of Personality. It took him a little while to break his maiden, and then he was thrown into a series of graded and expensive stakes races where he has struggled to compete. Now he is in at a level where he can hit the board.
5 Jinxed Star Mb Stables 93
Jinxed Star. Is not to be overlooked. His last race was a courageous closing third beaten only a neck in a PRX allowance, prior to that he was second in the $300.00 Palisades Turf Sprint and he’s owned by Mb Stables. The two races before these were routes, and I’m throwing them out. In spite of what I say with my handicap, this may well be the race favourite.
6 Sinister Returns Simmer Down Stable 92
Sinister Returns was just claimed from La Canada Racehorses for $18.00. He’s been quite been quite busy recently winning turf sprints at claiming and allowance levels, and now his new connections are taking a shot at stakes level.
7 Raining Prince Nakamura Stables 98
Raining Prince is a converted dirt horse, winner of the Grade III Hope Stakes at seven-furlongs on dirt at DMR, then two races back he took the turf on and won a 6 1/2 furlong turf allowance at WO and was second in a 5 1/2 furlong turf allowance at MTH. Now it’s time to see if he can jump up to stakes level.
