The six year old bay out of Cherokee Sunset didn’t hesitate for a second as top jock Centeno got him out quick to the front from his twelve hole,and he never looked back.

It has been since May of last season when Going Gone ( John Henry ) earned his last mile victory, when he captured the Gr.I Shoemaker. Its not that he hasn’t been racing in against some tough competition since that win, but this victory was definitely bitter sweet for his trainer. John Henry may have had ideas of retiring him a couple of affairs prior to this one, but his patience paid off. This was Going Gone’s tenth career victory, and his fourth Graded victory as well. On the season, John Henry now sits in a tie with Estero Farms and Aer Stables with eight Graded stakes wins to his credit. Last weekend he took home the SA Derby with Orion Nebula who he hopes will bring home his first ever Triple Crown title of his career.
Closing late and coming to within a length by the wire was Nakamura Stables Decision In Five. Was at 10-1 on the tote come race time and the switch to Gryder in the irons definitely lifted a much needed spark under this five year old. While he has yet to win in three starts this season, I am almost certain that a victory is just around the corner.
Rounding out the top three was Threshold’s Nice Dive who edge out the position in a threeway photo with the two Mb Stables entries. His rider Pennington has always been kind of a go to guy when it comes to this six year old, both combining for a record of 4( 0-2-1-1). While there has been no victories, they always seem to be heading to the bank.
