Santa Margarita Stakes Grade 2 1 1/8 on Dirt
Purse $200.00 For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward
Santa Anita Park Arcadia, California
Great Eclipse from Night Rider Stables shot out of the gate, gained the lead and never looked back in a dominating front end performance and score today in taking down The Santa Margarita Stakes. Congrats to the winning connections, this five-year-old mare is looking better than ever. Present Tense from Mb Stables got hammered at the windows to go off as the favorite, she ran big, but there was just no catching the winner on the afternoon. “Tense” just continues to amaze with solid performance after performance. Gutter Black from Mo Mentum Farm ran a good race as we suspected she would, but the way the track played today, nobody was able to make up any ground. Nice effort. El Sweetie from Greyfriars Stable was able to close a little ground but not overtake another position and thus ran fourth throughout.
Of The Rest:
El Grande Latte from Black N Gold Stable had a tough trip, going wide and having to get closer than she really wanted to. The way the race went down she had no shot. Look for a rebound if she gets a decent draw in a full field.
Spirit Storm from Nakamura Stables ran a very disappointing race today as our top pick. She came out sluggishly and that was the end of her day and a lot of tickets. When she drifted up in price and then didn’t break great, you just knew it was going to be a tough couple minutes.
My Little Chickadee from Avenue Z ran a race looking like a horse being outclassed. Look for a drop and a better performance in her next venture.
