Great Field for BC Juvenile Turf Sprint

Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint – GII
11/6/20
KEE Race 6 5 1/2F – Turf
Purse $1,000.000
Two Year Olds

And here we are for the most exciting weekend of racing and this race is for the best two year old turf sprinters in the game. The newest of all the Breeders Cup races and this is an exciting one. Full field of fourteen here so let’s take a look at the field.

1. Gabilondo (4-2-2-0 $85.350), trained by Fractious

First up in the field a stakes winner sprinting on the grass in the Tyro at Monmouth this summer. In his last a good second in the Speakeasy at Santa Anita which is a win and you’re in race for the Juvenile Turf Sprint. I think he could have a good shot here if he can work out a good trip from the rail.

2. Stealth Command (6-2-0-0 $75.000), trained by Estero Farms

Next up to this runner here who is also a stakes wins sprinting on the grass in his young career and he won the Skidmore at Saratoga this summer. Last two races were not his best efforts especially last time in the Futurity at Belmont so I think he will have to step it up to have a real shot at winning.

3. Mr Orange (8-2-0-3 $147.280), trained by Arindel

Most experienced runner in the field by far here and he is coming into this race off of a win in the grade three Futurity at Belmont. He ended up winning by a length that day and ran a quick time so if he repeats that race I think he could definitely have a big shot at winning this race.

4. Uncle Buck (4-1-2-0 $51.200), trained by South Beach Racing

Moving on to this horse here and he has shown to be pretty quick early on in his races. Last time he was caught right in the last sixteenth in the Hollywood Beach at Gulfstream. If he goes close early I think they will go too quick for him and the five and a half will be too far for the speed horses like him.

5. Jar Head (4-3-0-0 $139.900), trained by Oquinn Farm

Only career start for this horse on the turf was his last start which was in the Bull Page at Woodbine for Ontario breds. Unlike most others his win came at a distance of seven and a half furlongs. Not sure how he will face with this quick sprint but he could have a shot if he sprints nicely.

6. Titusville (5-2-1-1 $101.280), trained by Barcelona Farms

One of the two fillies in the race here and she is coming into this race off of a win in the grade three Matron at Belmont. Her only two starts on the grass have been wins and the extra weight she will have off definitely benefits her. She could definitely have a shot and a filly has won this race before.

7. Darth Charley (5-2-0-1 $121.360), trained by Diablo Diablo

Course and distance winner already here and he won the Indian Summer right over this same track about a month ago to secure his spot in the starting gate for this race. He was a three quarter length winner that day and he has a drawn a good post so I think he will definitely be in the mix to win this race.

8. People Pleaser (6-3-0-1 $129.750), trained by Mb Stables

First of the three for Mb Stables here and this here us the winner of the Hollywood Beach at Gulfstream in his last start. It is his only start on turf so far so obviously he has a liking to it and you can just never count any Mb Stables runner especially on a big weekend of racing like this.

9. De Novo (5-3-0-0 $45.710), trained by Nakamura Stables

Not really much to talk about with this runner here as he is kind of the obvious one in the field that doesn’t look like he has much of a shot. His best win was at seven furlongs in an allowance optional claimer at Fort Erie but other than that nothing stands out about him at all. Do not see him being a threat here.

10. Found Peace (5-2-1-1 $81.400), trained by Mb Stables

Second of the three for Mb Stables and this runner here last raced in the Indian Summer right here at Keeneland and he was just nailed late in the final part of the race. This outside post may force him close to the pace so I don’t know how he will be able to work out a good enough trip for the win.

11. Bad Precedent (5-1-0-1 $63.600), trained by Mo Mentum Farm

And another runner coming out of the Indian Summer here at Keeneland and he was the third place finisher that day when he ran a pretty good race to run third from a far outside post. Once again he has a bad post but at least a few more to his outside. Going to have to work out a trip to have any shot.

12. Tyson Fury (5-2-1-0 $117.280), trained by Mb Stables

Last and final runner for Mb Stables in this race and this horse is entering this event off of a win in the Ontario Racing Stakes up at Woodbine. He won nicely that day and he ran a very good race that day. He will have a very tough post to overcome here but he could have an okay shot to win this race here.

13. Persist (6-1-2-1 $68.430), trained by Arindel

Second runner in the field here for trainer Arindel and this is the other only filly in the field here. She was a very close second in the Surfer Girl in her last start. She should not have a problem sprinting but this post is not good for her and the trip she’ll have to workout from out there is going to have to be perfect.

14. Ags Cherokee (6-2-1-0 $106.200), trained by Arq Racingfarms

Last runner in the field and this horse is coming into this race off of a win in the Speakeasy at Santa Anita which is a win and you’re in event for this race. Absolute terrible post for this horse and he will have to get an absolute perfect trip to have any shot here. But maybe he can get a good trip and if he does he could be very tough in this race.

Summary

This race has a full field and almost every single horse in this field could win which is just like almost every single race on this weekend. There could be some surprises here but my top choice is Darth Charley for a win over this track and a good post draw. Good luck to all in this field.
