Happy Thoughts Takes The WV Cavada Breeders Classic

CT  The WV Cavada Breeders Classic

$175.000     7f     Dirt   F&M 3yo&Up Foaled in WV  3yo 119lbs  Older 123lbs

Happy Thoughts, indeed!  Using tactical speed to sit just in behind the pacesetters, Rampage Stable’s Happy Thoughts turned it on down the lane and got to the wire by a head over Gingers A Ten, securing her first stakes victory in the WV Cavada Breeders Classic.  Maxmillion Farm was had a heck of a night but had to settle for the place, and Rampage Stable was able to get the third spot with Make You Blush.

The field of five loaded up near the head of the lane for this 7f challenge and were away in good order with Tip Of A Pedal and Gingers A Ten battling for the early lead.  A length and a half back to Happy Thoughts on the rail, Make You Blush just to her outside and Unintentional Laff was the early trailer.

Around the clubhouse turn and on to the backside with a half mile to run, Gingers A Ten skipped away to lead by nearly two and a half lengths.  Happy Thoughts continued to skim the rail in second, Tip Of A Pedal drifting backwards to the outside of that one, then two more lengths back to Make You Blush and Unintentional Laff to her outside, five lengths covering the field.

They made their way down the backside and into the hotel turn, two furlongs to run, Gingers A Ten continued to show the way by two lengths.  Happy Thoughts tracking that one as she had done all race long, another length back to Tip Of A Pedal, another length to Make You Blush along the rail and Unintentional Laff could see them all, still five length from front to back.

Around the turn and now at the top of the lane with just a furlong to run, Gingers A Ten still in front by a length but Happy Thoughts had cut into the lead and was advancing.  Two lengths back to Make You Blush on the inside, Tip Of A Pedal still losing ground to her outside and Unintentional Laff felt the sting of the whip as she was asked for more.

Deep stretch and down to the wire, this was a two horse race – Gingers A Ten chirped along, Gingers A Ten getting closer with every stride, and as they hit the wire it was R W Walcott and Happy Thoughts getting the job done by a head in a brisk 1:22.29.  A game Gingers A Ten just missing in second, and Make You Blush continuing on well two lengths back in third.  Unintentional Laff was another two lengths back in fourth with Tip Of A Pedal tiring from her early efforts and closing this one out.

Happy Thoughts is a 3yo bay filly by Virtual Realism – Fond Memories by My Back Pages, and she was bred in WV by her owner, Rampage Stable.  This was her third victory from six starts, her first stakes score and she now has earning of $142.560.  Congratulations to this nice looking filly and all the connections.
