5    GP  The Herecomesthebride Stakes (GIII)

             $100.000     3yo F       1 1/16m  Turf            121lbs +penalties

We catch a nice field of eleven sophomore fillies set to go a mile and a sixteenth on the grass here in Hallandale Beach, and we look at the field for the Herecomesthebride Stakes (GIII).  I’m going chalk today and took the rail, Common Misconception as my top choice.  I mean, how can you not?  She won the BC Juv F Turf (GI) in fine fashion, and won the Jessamine (GI) before that… sorry, but you can’t ignore those races.  I went to the outside and put Bring It On in the second spot.  She ran third and fifth to the top choice in those big races, and won her seasonal debut, so she seems to be a good fit here.  I’ll give the lightly raced Party In The Brig a shot to make some noise here today.  She’s been close in a couple of graded races, and she hits me as a horse that can improve.

Here’s The Field –

1
   Common Misconception    Nakamura Stables    Carrasco V R   121   7/5

Real hard to look past this big filly… she’s done just about everything asked of her so far.  Four wins from the six starts and the BC J Turf (GI) winner makes her 21 debut.  She also took that Jessamine (GII) at KEE so she certainly likes that course, but she’s undefeated on the lawn so I think she likes ALL courses.  She’s the one to beat.

2
   Painville    Mb Stables    Lanerie C J   121   10/1

She had a three-race win streak but when she moved up to graded horses, it’s been tough ever since.  She was thirteenth on BC Day but did bounce back a bit to be a fast closing fourth against graded horses over this track last out.  Can she improve?

3
   Stateside    High Voltage    Gaffalione T   121   4/1

Two wins from seven starts and was second at DMR vs. graded horses on the grass.  She won last out at SA vs. Alw foes, so she comes into this race looking like she’s ready to take on the best, and she will be seeing just that.

4
   Native Exclusive    Williams9    Zayas E J   121   8/1

Her only win came in her maiden victory and has changed hands a couple of times of late.  This is her first start for these connections and she was a tiring third vs. Alw horses last out.  She’s going to need her very best to be any part of this one.

5
Casting Couch Cutie    Arindel    Davis D   121   5/2

A vey disappointing ninth to kick-off her 21 season after being the runner-up in the BC Juv F Turf (GI).   She had won a (GI) race prior to that, as well, so the ninth is certainly a red flag.  That race was over this track so she has to get it turned around real quick like.

6
   Highly One    Acber Farms    Velazquez J R   121   7/1

Very solid at the Alw level so the step up seems logical in her progression.  She’s won two of her last three starts, all on the grass, but this is a salty field and she will need to bring her best to be in the hunt when the checks are handed out.

7
Shake Your Feathers    TwinTowersRacing    Saez L   121   8/1

She’s won her last two, breaking maiden at HAW and then taking down Alw types at TUP in fine fashion.  They jump into the deep end of the pool today, so she better be everything they think she is.

8
Party In The Brig    Mo Mentum Farm    Jaramillo E   121   6/1

A solid filly that won her first two starts, has been second in each of her last two starts, and was only beaten a length in the two middle races, both against top-notch graded horses.  If she can find just a bit more, look out… she could be tough.

9
   Narragansett    Our Athletes    Beschizza A   121   8/1

Kicked off 21 with an Alw win at TUP, which was good to see after that tiring effort vs Fla bred stakes company to close out 20.  Now that was on a soggy course, so if it stays firm, she could use her tactical speed to create some trouble here.

10
Hypocrisy    Big Guns Stables    Lopez P   121   8/1

She’s been right in the thick of most races facing Alw horses, but this is a serious step up and she will need to show a bit more to be a major factor here, in my eye.  I’ll probably take a look a few others.

11
Bring It On    Waldo    Alvarado J   121   9/2

Seemed to be a major bargain when purchased for $175.000 after running fifth on BC Day.  She was third in another (GI) stakes at KEE, and certainly shows some ability.  Won her first start for the new connection, taking a stakes over this track… can she pull the upset?
