Today at Belmont there were twin turf stakes races for both the male and the females going the exact same mile and an eighth distance. In the female offering of the race all 5 that signed on entered the starting gate on this great day where the turf came up firm. The betting public was luke warm behind Shake It Daddy making her the 9/5 betting choice. As the gates flung open it was clear that there was one horse who had leading the race on his mind and that was Midwest Metal. By the ¼ mile mark she had opened up a length and ¼ lead on The Generals Out who was in 2^nd with Shake It Daddy in 3^rd. A half mile into the race the running order for the top 3 went unchanged and Midwest Metal was just pulling away from the rest of the field with that distance being run in 47 and 3. After 6 furlongs the top 3 remain unchanged but The Generals Out made his move toward Midwest Metal and had narrowed the gap. Shake It Daddy was 5 lengths back and still in 3^rd and looked like she had her work cut out for her to get up in time. At the one mile mark Midwest Metal held a narrow lead on The Generals Out who appeared to be traveling the best of both these horses. Shake It Daddy was still in 3^rd and had started her move but she looked like she had too much to do in this final furlong. With .5 furlongs to go The Generals Out just put her head in front and looked like she was on her way to a victory but then Midwest Metal dug in and battled right back. She battled her way right back to dead heat with The Generals Out for a dead heat on the line. Shake it Daddy ran out of room and finished a closing 3^rd.
