10 LS Chicken Fried Stakes
$150.000 3yo&Up F&M 5f Turf 3yo 116lbs Older 122lbs
We catch a field of seven female sprinters set to go five furlongs on the LS turf course in the Chicken Fried Stakes, and I love ANYTHING Chicken Fried!! I’m taking Happy Beat as the top choice today as she’s been tough since switching to Smokey, and was a handful prior to that, as well. She has three wins and a second since switching hands and I think she runs big again today. Let’s drop down to the rail and give Festive Sunset a shot today… she’s been running well since changing hands until that dud vs. graded horses, but this should be more to her liking.
Here’s The Field –
Another Max purchase, three races back, and he shows a pair of third place finishes vs. stakes company before that last-of-seven flop at BEL in the Intercontinental (GIII). This is softer than that, so she should be in the hunt.
Won the Lightning City at TAM back in Feb, then was last of five in the Sandy Sprint on the soggy GP grass, before bouncing back run second at WO vs. ONT-bred Alw company. This looks like a spot where she can make some noise, so look for her to be in the middle of things.
Has won two of her last three, both Alw races, and was third in between those wins facing stakes company in the License Fee at BEL, all on the grass. This is only her ninth start, so there is room to continue the improvement, and she loves the lawn.
She was running in tall cotton or what ever that saying is, then chucked a couple of bad ones on the down-hill at SA, so the moved her to a starter-Alw and she responded with a big win in very quick time. I think she may come with some odds, but she scares me in this one.
She’s been on a Alw starter-Alw diet and has been on the road at every turn. She loves the grass, never misses a check and comes flying late, so in this group, she may be a horse to keep an eye on for a big win.
Does she ever run a bad race? The answer is no… Smokey picked this one up via private purchase back in Feb and she has three wins and a second (beaten a nose) since. Sharp barn, sharp horse… she’s the one to get past.
Another that has been super consistent and was tagged out of her last race as Angelos picks this one up for $47.500. She won her two prior and was second going a mile and an eighth in her most recent… I think this is a better distance and she should be tough.
