Immoral Enjoys New Morals in Makers Mark Mile

Makers Mark Mile – Grade I
1 Mile Turf Stake Purse $300.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.

I think the differences between the old race engine, the new race engine and now the new new race engine were never more obvious than in this race. It turned out the right people made the right noises to convince the developers to make enough changes to the new race engine to make it acceptable to them and we saw in todays winner those changes come in to play. The winners trainer had said that this one was a notoriously slow starter so the old new race engine gave him no chance of winning and that was demonstrated in the Kilroe Mile back in March. After many gentle shoves by the premier players we had some updates and now a month later this one started well and stalked a 46 and 1 half mile pace with no problem. This is how the top four ran as the top ten were covered by just four lengths.

1ST Immoral Mb Stables Jaramillo E

Whether it was a miracle instruction change, or a stunning training feat this great turfer did what he has never been able to do before today and broke fast and stalked a fast pace. In the end he just had too much class for his rivals seeing them off by a neck and making the blip in his form last time out look like justification for the owners demands that the new race engine be adjusted.
This win will give hope to those who own good horses that had slow starts before and i am sure Mb’s inbox will be full of questions as to how they managed this turnaround in running style.

The four year old now goes over the 3K prize money mark and looks destined to go to his second Breeders Cup in the hope of improving on his third last year.

2ND Anoush Command            Fractious             Gutierrez Mario

This one was my first choice but when he had to work hard to keep his favored leading position i knew he would be vulnerable at the end. Over a second faster than he went in the Kilroe Mile at the halfway stage he fought off all the challengers bar one and that one was the horse that finished five lengths behind him in the Kilroe Mile. It was pretty clear who was really favored by the new new race engine as they actually ended up in a slower race time than when he won the Kilroe Mile but we now seem to be back to a more competitive early pace.

I still think this one will be a force right through to the BC.

3RD Commander Wellesley           Jive Inc.                Saez G

Second in the Kilroe Mile, third today he was beaten less than a length but this now confirms that he has gone from a decent over -nighter last year into a genuine stakes horse this year. Clearly still on the up through his improvement curve there are plenty of good wins in this ones future.

4TH Ohtani            Sccj Stables             Velazquez J R

Third in the Kilroe Mile which means that the first second and third all ended in the same positions they did that day but the one that finished last that day managed to turn it all around just five weeks later and defeat them all. He stalked in the Kilroe on a slower pace but went back today on a faster one and ran home really well to be beaten just a length at the end.

  1. “The winners trainer had said that this one was a notoriously slow starter so the old new race engine gave him no chance of winning”

I never said this and it’s also not true at all. He’s quite a good starter and he had completely different tactics today and in all 3 of his starts on the 2021 race engines. I’m not quite sure what your agenda is here, but please if you want to quote me just reach out to me first don’t make this up. It’s misleading to your readers

My feelings about the race engine you portray in this article are completely false. And my suggestions of what needs to be changed have nothing to do with Immoral the horse. Or any individual horse I own

His change in performance isn’t a “miracle” either

    You’re better than this Stu
