Insist Always Horse to Beat in The Singletary

The Singletary Stakes – NG
4/26/20
SA Race 6 1M – Turf
Purse $100.000
Three Year Olds

Only a group of six three year olds has been entered for the 2020 running of the Singletary Stakes here at Santa Antia turf. It looks like a pretty decent field on paper so let’s take a look at the field.

1. Through The World (7-2-2-0 $108.520), trained by La Canada Racehorses

First one up in the field here and he is coming off of an eighth place finish in the Cutler Bay at Gulfstream. Before that he was fourth in the Pasadena here at Santa Anita and if he runs that well here he could win it for sure.

2. Bannister (7-1-0-1 $43.000), trained by John Henry

This horse right here is only going to be making his second ever start on turf. His only other turf race was a fifth in the grade three Pilgrim as a two year old. He has some good works but he’ll have to run a huge race to win I think.

3. Protest About It (12-1-2-2 $57.000), trained by Williams9

Coming off of a maiden win at Sam Houston in his last start where I think he showed that he definitely likes the turf more than dirt. I do think he might be hard pressed to make this jump in class and win this spot.

4. Kowloon City (7-2-0-1 $58.440), trained by Nakamura Stables

One of the two runners who is coming out of the Equistaff at Tampa Bay right here and he was fifth that day beaten by two lengths. He ran an okay race in there that day but he needs to improve quite a bit to win in here.

5. Insist Always (6-3-2-0 $84.900), trained by Mb Stables

The other one who is coming out of the Equistaff at Tampa Bay and he ran second and got beat a head in there. On paper he looks the most consistent and best horse in the race so he is my top pick in the race.

6. Disco Duck (7-1-1-0 $40.650), trained by Mo Mentum Farm

Last but not least in the field here and he is going to be making his first for Mo Mentum Farm and also his first ever start on turf. No clue as to how he will run with no recent turf works or races so he could win or run last with no surprise to me.

Summary

A small field in here and there is one in this field that definitely looks the horse to beat and that is Insist Always for Mb Stables. He is my top choice and good luck to all in the field.
