Inspector Jacque Hits His Stride in Kilroe Mile

Kilroe Mile – Grade I
1 Mile Turf Stake Purse $400.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st Inspector Jacque, trained by Kopites
This one had been promising a lot without delivering for some time but his win in an overnight last time suggested he may have turned a corner and that he did here in no uncertain terms. Winning by a fairly clear cut length in a race where everything else finished in a  heap was far more impressive than i expected against these top graded stakes winning milers but the way he did it suggests he may take the division by storm this year.

2nd Midway, trained by Whitewater Stables
Gunned to the lead from the wide gate this front runner was suited by the challenge and kept on really gamely to keep second. The difference between a wide gate and an inside draw is none more obvious than his last two starts but this consistent five year old has proved he can do it from any draw and that is pretty important in HRP land.

3rd Desolation Island, trained by Mb Stables
Not the most fancied of the stable runners he kept on well for third. Its difficult to place him in the division on this run but he is certainly in the mix and may well be there at BC time.

4th The Perfect Day, trained by Aer Stables
Took choice B from the wide gate and went all the way back to find the rail. He flew late to finish fourth in another decent effort.
