It All Starts Getting Serious for KYO Fillies as They Face Off in The HoneyBee

The Honeybee – Grade III [KYO]
OP Race #1 1 1/16m Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $300.000 For Fillies Three Years Old.

1 Lucky Insist Rock Creek Smith M E

Gets the ace box so with a good start should be able to lay up closer than she has in the past. The only trouble is that a good start is a long way from being guaranteed and a bad one could put paid to her chances.
With only two wins for a little over a hundred bucks in prize money she doesn’t look so great on stats but she has some very useful form from difficult gates most notably in the Natalma and the Demoiselle when a late charging third. She won the Busanda from a handy draw last time so she may just be a chance if things go her way,

2 Intercontinental Smokey Stover Cabrera D

The stable is known for their deep pockets when it comes to fillies and mares and there was no holding back when they spent $700 on this two race winner. She didn’t clear maidens until her fifth attempt but has now won her last two so it is clear she has undergone a step up her improvement curve. Her last win in the Martha Washington was very very good coming home three lengths clear but i must admit i do not trust off track form and the going was good that day. She has worked well enough on a faster track to suggest she is not just a wet tracker and with the perfect draw from a high performing stable you have to give her a winning hope.

3 Naples Arindel Pereira T J

This trainer was in great form last weekend so i expect a big run from this one. The winner of the Spinaway as a two year old she ran very well from a horror draw in the BC Juvenile fillies and then got another rotten draw in the Starlet after being bought for no less than $1200 ! She was better on seasonal debut when second in the Las Virgenes last time when second but has since been sold again for $750 ! She has certainly become a HRP favorite generating plenty of sales tax for them but i think she may have found the right home now to get herself into the KYO picture again.
She has worked a sub 1.37 for the dirt mile since that seasonal debut so i reckon off this handy draw she may represent some value and be a good each way bet.

4 Creepy Crawlies Mb Stables Talamo J

Well form has little to do with these races and here we see one of the two stable entries from Mb Stables without the form of some of these but the works suggest she can run with them.
She didn’t really show up last year winning a couple but not really making a mark at this level and whilst her seasonal debut run was fair again it didn’t sing out KYO contender to me. Her works however are just as good as the best in this race and we all know that Mb Stables wins most of the KYO and KYD qualifiers every year so i am sure she will have her supporters.

5 Steppin Out Mb Stables Lopez P

You know at HRP now and again we see highly improbable winners of these types of races and whilst this maiden clearly has nothing in her form to say she has a chance here i see many of the patterns that usual result in a surprise win. I wont even bother to talk of her form because there really isn’t much to say but what i will mention is that none of these fillies can work a 58 flat for 5 furlongs and very few can break 1.37 for the mile like she did a few days ago. What does all that mean? Well it means she will probably win.

6 Franchise Filly Sharis Stables Garcia Mar

I think this filly may come into this race a little under the radar. She broke her maiden at two but her best runs have come this year with a win in the ungraded Glitter Woman and then a gutsy second in the Forward Gal last time. I think the 1.38 work will put a few people off and the center field draw could prove sticky but she has done nothing wrong in her four starts and may just be the dark horse in this field.

7 Ashado D J C Racing Stables Wilson E J

This trainer is never afraid to have a go and there is no reason this three race winner can’t give him a good show. After several good runs in state bred stakes including a win in the Key Cents last year she was just a shade disappointing in the Las Virgenes last time when quickly fading after leading early. Today is her acid test but she still has a bit to prove for my tip.

9 Exultant Gal TwinTowersRacing Sanchez M J

I keep saying it but every time this trainer throws in a horse into a stakes race it seems to do well regardless of its form. This one has only won the one race but her third in the Golden Rod last year suggests to me she has a squeak in this contest. The tough draw wont help and she will need luck in running but if she gets it i wouldn’t be surprised to see her fighting for minor prizes.

10 Taco Impact Maxmillion Farm Cintron A

The $300 the trainer spent to secure this filly from Lindeman Prairie suggests she has far more ability than she had shown previous to the sale. It looked as if she was going to prove that in the Busanda when coasting along in an early lead but in the end she was collared fairly easily by Lucky Insist and with very little difference in the draws today i think she may find it tough to avenge her defeat.

11 El Gran Condottieri Estero Farms Hernandez R M

A nice enough sort who is given her chance today but she will have to find some improvement to beat these. She was a good maiden winner over seven furlongs, the furthest she has ever gone so just maybe the trip will help her find something today.

12 Slckmoment Laga Night Rider Stables Santana R Jr

She was quite brilliant in the Las Virgenes last time especially when you consider she only cost Thirty bucks and had only won a free track maiden before. She should have every chance today but many of my big form pointers revolve around the draw and that is where her chances may suffer. Drawn perfectly in two she got the perfect run in the Las Virgenes but today gets out to gate 11 and will certainly not get the same run. If she wins she may well go to the top of my KYO list.

13 Jane Wick BomBay Stables Boyce F

One race one win she is the only unbeaten filly in the race but this draw will probably kill any chances she had of maintaining that record. Though that win was only at the free track she did it in a optional claimer for 3 win fillies so it shouldn’t be taken too lightly. She shouldn’t be winning but hey you can’t win unless you are in so good luck to BomBay Stables i will be rooting for you.

SUMMARY

I am very wary of the Mb Stables maiden but just cannot bring myself to tip a horse on works alone so today i am going for Naples to beat the maiden with Intercontinental and Slckmoment Laga battling out the minor money.
