1 Evervescent, trained by Threshold

This filly has never been out of the first three on turf but has struggled to get a mile in the past and at this level it is tough to see her lasting home. She has only raced once this year and that was in a competitive open allowance where she went up into the lead which is where she likes to race and just lasted home to win by a half-length. That race was over seven and a half furlongs and she would’ve been beaten over a mile so one feels she will have to be ridden with a bit more restraint if she wants to win today. An honest sort but she may be outclassed.

2 Flash For Cash, trained by Sanny Village

In contrast to Evervescent this one finishes off a mile pretty strongly and she showed that as a three year old in the grade one First lady when a close fifth and most recently in the grade two CD Distaff Turf Mile when a close third. She is one of the best female turf milers in the game at the moment and although she comes up against possibly the best she must have a huge chance.

3 Risen Queen, trained by D J C Racing Stables

She finished in a half-length in front of Flash for Cash when a half-length second in the CD Distaff Turf Mile last time out confirming the similarly narrow margin she beat that filly in last year’s First Lady. It’s hard to fault her form and like Flash for Cash she sees out the mile very strongly. There won’t be much between them again but on past form she should come out on top again.

4 In Dreams, trained by Night Mare Racing

A nice sort who has come to this level pretty late in life. Her win in The Santa Ana Stakes at grade two was pretty gutsy and proves that she has a right to be here but these are the best milers in the game and she may find the race too hot to handle.

5 Attraction, trained by Mm Racing

Last season’s BC Fillies and Mares turf winner and filly of the year she started the season a little off colour with defeats in an Allowance and The Fox. That was all put behind her though last time out when she bounced back to beat Flash For Cash and Risen Queen in the CD Distaff Turf Mile last time and on that sort of form she may be unbeatable today. The Lasix is off again today so it will be interesting to see how she goes against that last run especially as her last work was a little below par.

6 Mentioned Honourably, trained by Mb Stables

A lightly raced sort she took the Grade Two Canadian Stakes in only her fifth race and has been in the top flight ever since. Her last start win was in the Sheepshead Bay which is a much longer trip than today but I imagine she will be put up on the speed as she was in the Grade one The Matriarch when she was beaten just a half-length by Attraction. She is one of the four in this field with a chance of winning today and it may all come down to tactics as to how this intriguing race pans out.

SUMMARY

I have a feeling that Mentioned Honourably may get a soft lead with Evervescent being held up to get the trip and that may be her best chance of winning. The wide speed push should help but she will then set the race up for her three main rivals to use their impressive finishes to get past her. I imagine Attraction should be stalking her with Risen Queen and Flash For Cash held up further back and it may all come down to luck and traffic as to who gets their nose in front at the line.
