2 LA Bayakoa Handicap (GIII)

They will be headed to the gate on Sunday evening to do battle in the 2020 Bayakoa Hcp (GIII) going a mile and a sixteenth her at LA. I’ve landed on Deliberate Miss as my top choice here, in what appears to be a wide open affair. She has three wins this year and just seems to be in the best form to me… a bunch of these, including her, have struggled against stakes horses, but I think it’s her day to shine. Starship Twister is another that has had a successful year, winning three and showing three other close misses, but she stopped badly in her only graded race of the year, but looks good enough to be in the hunt when they hand out checks today.
You certainly can make a case for a bunch of these so it looks like a good betting affair.

This may be the spot for her to get going again in stakes company. Was fourth in the Vagrancy Hcp (GIII), fifth in the DEL Hcp (GII) and third in the Summer Colony, but her Alw races have been very successful, so maybe she gets her picture taken today.

She’s had a rough year, 0-for-4 and has been laid up since Jun when she tired to beat one horse in the Acorn (GI). She’s sold twice in her last three starts and I’d have to think if she doesn’t turn it around here she may be off to the shed.

Fifth last out when facing OptAlw horses at CRC on a wet strip, but she’s been close in all of her other 2020 starts. Broke maiden at SA and beat Alw horses at SAR, so she’s shown some real ability, but she will need her best today to break out against black-type horses.

She’s been on the board in four of six starts this year and in what seems to be a repetitive scenario, her only bad start was a tenth in the SUN Oaks, facing stakes company. Can she get over the hump here?

Three wins from nine starts and three other OTB starts this season, so she knows how to bring home a check. Won two of her last three sandwiched around a tiring last place finish in the Cotillion at PRX. That was a tough bunch so give her a better chance in this one.

Sold two back for $50.000 and has a sixth vs graded horses then a win at the Alw level for the new stable. She won that Alw race by four lengths on the wet CRC strip, and they may want rain as she is two-for-two on wet footing.

She’s had a fairly consistent year hitting the board in five of six outings including a pair of wins. She was third in the Azalea Stakes at GP back on Independence Day and has been solid vs Alw types as well. This is another step up but she looks ready to run big off of that win at GG.
