It’s a Table For One in Honeymoon Stakes

Honeymoon Stakes – Grade III
1 1/8 Mile Turf Stake Purse $100.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.

1st       Table For One       Alydar Stables       Espinoza V

Well this certainly looked the filly with the most upside before the race, the only question was how she would act on the turf after her best runs to date being on dirt. As i alluded to in the preview for this race a good horse is a good horse on any surface at HRP and she proved just how good she is today. It wasn’t the strongest field but se treated them with the sort of contempt that says there are more wins and bigger prizes in her future whether that be on turf or back on dirt. Starting well her jockey was struggling to hold her through the first quarter and had to let her go soon after. Once in the lead she settled well and really never looked in danger winning by an easy two lengths.

2nd       Calming Angie          Arindel       Fuentes Ru

Started favorite but never looked on the same page as the winner despite holding a good enough position to launch a challenge. She kept on for second and ran well enough but she looked to be laboring down the stretch and may be better suited by slightly shorter.

3rd          Hgh As A Kite       Jive Inc.     Gutierrez Mario

Never looked like being better than third and as the only graded stakes winner in the field would be a little disappointing. The fairly sedate pace certainly didn’t help her late on but she never really made up much ground.

4th       Congrats Storm       Arindel       Gonzalez Ru

Stalked the lead and then fell right away, she just isn’t up to this level yet.
