Junior Looks to Runhappy

Runhappy – Grade III
BEL Race #2 6f Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $150.000 For Four Year Olds And Upward.

1 Pulpit D J C Racing Stables Bejarano R

I am not worried that this horses last race was over nine furlongs when he was fifth at grade three level because trip doesn’t mean much when stepping back and he has proved with a fourth in the grade one SA Sprint Championship that he can run well over any old distance. He gets a decent draw and a popular jockey in the saddle and along with a nippy work over this trip looks a lively chance.

2 El Jefe TwinTowersRacing Tunon M

The trainer can win races like this by throwing in these types and once again though he hasn’t got the form of some he has come up with the revered two box so who knows. His works aren’t bad but its hard to make a winning case.

3 Zombie Lady Nolespan Racing Lopez P

The claiming king Nolespan Racing throws this sprinter in here and i must admit i can see him running very well. Why? well a stable in form can very often carry that into races here and this one is a solid type who draws well. He has been a little inconsistent since a good win in the Fleet Sprint Handicap last year but didn’t run much last year and has been busier this season. He does have something to find on his poor effort in the GP Sprint Championship though and there doesn’t look any guarantee’s as to how he will run today.

4 Black Scorpion John Henry Ortiz J L

The draw monster has been haunting this one for some time so its nice to see he finally gets some relief from the outside boxes. Considering his rotten luck he has been running very well and i rather think this may his best chance for a win for some time.

5 Titusville Twister RNP Stables Centeno D E

A classic HRP type, claimers, stakes racing, it doesn’t matter what grade he runs in he runs well and has been very consistent. After three wins on the turf and plying his trade in turf sprints he switched to dirt to go from beaten claimer to stakes winner and tries to go to even higher heights today. This is HRP so of course he could be anything but he still has a lot to find at this level.

6 Final Verse Mb Stables Court J K

Carried a low weight in the Carter Handicap last time and ran a cracker to be a close fifth. His works are pretty good and he is clearly capable so i would expect a prominent effort.

7 Junior Maxmillion Farm Carmouche

Probably the strongest on form and works he had a great time up to September last year with three money finishes in a row at graded level including a second in the grade one Vanderbilt Handicap. He ran much better than his finishing position when drawn wide in the SA Sprint Championship after that but ended the year looking a bit weary in the Kennedy Road Stakes. A confidence boosting first up win at allowance level then saw him run a cracker in the Fleet Sprint when a very close second under a tough weight.

8 Sonar Threshold Davis D

Ran a great third in the BC Sprint last year but can be a bit up and down and ran poorly from a wide gate in the Carter Handicap last time out. He may have reached the twilight of his career but he is capable of a strong race if things go his way.

9 Machine Gun Tommy Fractious Bridgmohan

Running solid races at this level but has yet to really break through. Capable but a tough draw may see him left too far back in the sprint for the line.

10 Kiss The Snake Nakamura Stables Beschizza A

The Nak factor and a dual grade one winner from the outside gate, sounds like a forgone conclusion to me. This brilliant sprinter has been a bit off the boil this year but this would be a great time to find his mojo.

SUMMARY

Junior looks the form choice here but i think Black Scorpion is better than his form suggests and i will take him to just get home.
